யுத்தம் க்ஷத்ரிய தர்மமென்றும், அஹிம்ஸை பிராம்மண தர்மம் என்றும் வைத்த நம் மதஸ்தரைவிட, ‘ஒரு கன்னத்தில் அடித்தால் இன்னொரு கன்னத்தையும் காட்டு’என்று எல்லாருக்கும் பொதுவாக வைத்தவரின் மதத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள்தான் ஜாஸ்தி யுத்தம் செய்து, தேசம் தேசமாக, கண்டம் கண்டமாகத் தங்கள் ஆதிக்கத்தைப் பரப்பி, அணுகுண்டு வரையில் கொண்டு போய் விட்டிருக்கிறார்கள்! ‘க்ரைஸ்ட், புத்தர் மாதிரி பிரேமையை, அஹிம்ஸையை நம் மூல புருஷர்கள் எங்கே சொன்னார்கள்?’ என்று நாமே சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தாலும் historical fact [சரித்ர உண்மை] நாம்தான் பரம ஸாத்விகர்களாக, சாந்தர்களாக, எல்லா மதஸ்தரையும் அரவணைத்துக் கொண்டு போகிறவர்களாக இருந்திருக்கிறோமென்பது. இப்போதும் அந்த அணுகுண்டுக்காரர்களையே நாம் அஹிம்ஸா மார்க்கத்தால்தான் வெளியேறி ஸ்வதந்திரம் பெற்றதாகவும் பெருமையடித்துக் கொள்கிறோம். ஐடியலை எல்லோருக்கும் ரூலாக வைக்காமல், குறிப்பிட்டவர்களுக்கு மட்டும் வைப்பதாலேயே அதை அவர்கள் தனிப் பெருமிதத்தோடு, கவனத்தோடு ரக்ஷிக்கிறார்கள். இப்படிச் சிலர் இருப்பதைப் பார்த்து இந்த உத்தம உதாரணத்தாலேயே அந்த ஐடியலைத் தங்களுக்கு ரூலாகக் கொள்ளாதவர்களுங்கூட ஓரளவுக்கு அதைத் தாமாகவே எடுத்துக் கொண்டு பின்பற்றி, ஸமூஹம் முழுவதிலுமே அதன் ‘ஸ்பிரிட்’ பிரகாசிக்கும்படிப் பண்ணுகிறார்கள். இதனால்தான் மற்ற மத ஸமூஹங்களைவிட நம் ஸமூஹமே ஆதியிலிருந்து தர்ம வாழ்க்கைக்கு எடுத்துக்காட்டாய் இருந்து வந்திருக்கிறது. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள் மொழிகள்

Our religion has given different codes of a conduct for a Brahmin and a Kshatriya – non-violence for the former and war for the latter. But it is only the followers of that religion, which directs one to show the other cheek when one is hit upon one cheek, who have battled vigorously and colonized the world and made  use of the atom bomb. Though we continue to declare that the founding fathers of our religion never advocated Love and Non-violence like Christ or Buddha the historical fact is that we have been pacifists, accepting people belonging to all religions. We continue to boast that we drove the users of atom bomb away from our country by non-violent methods and got independence. When the ideal is not made a universal rule and allotted to a few, they protect it proudly and carefully. Seeing them, those who are not subject to this universal rule adopt this ideal to some extent and thus make its spirit shine throughout the society.
