“Any Periyava puja room is complete only after adding Sri Pradosham mama photo. He is like Anjaneyar to Ramar” said mama….. He asked Sri Ganesh Kumar to help me with the good quality photo. I got the photo…..Sharing it with all of you…..This is a high-resolution photo.
Disclaimer – I am yet to print, frame and add to my puja room – been busy and never found time to do this….Hoping to do this in the next few days.

I would like to share a couple of my experiences. It was in the month of March this year – 2017. I sometimes go to the Shiva temple on Pradosham days and participate in the puja. I wanted to know more about Pradosham, and I googled by typing – Pradosham and the first line showed up was Pradosham Mama. I did not know anything about Sri.Mama till then. So, I clicked and started reading about mama, his two very special son’s , his devotion to Maha Periyava etc I became addicted to watching many many videos of devotee experiences of Maha Periyava. My heart filled with joy Everytime I watched them I have seen Periyava ones when I was 7 or 8 years old.
I am ardent devotee of Shirdi Sai baba for more than 15 years. Baba has blessed me by making me read Sai Sat Charitra many times.
After watching Periyava videos continuously for many days from March 2017, I was blessed by Periyava in my dream by wearing many (Vegetable)PEAS Mala. It also looked like Rudraksham with a big smile. I was thrilled with joy and tears started rolling down my eyes.
Then, when I was watching Sri. Ganesha Sharma’s video, mama said, Pradosham Mama used to ask anyone visiting him to read GURU CHARITRA. The next day, while I was reading Shirdi Sai baba devotee experiences, a devotee wrote that Saibaba asked her to read GURU CHARITRA. I felt that was an instruction to me too as Pradosham Mama also says the same. I then realized that My Sai baba, Maha Periyava Pradosha Mama are all one and the same, Parameshwara’s avataras. With all my Gurus blessings I completed reading Gurucharitra today and iits Pradosham today. My sincere namaskarams to all the great sages who made me read Guru charitra.

Maha periyava considers him 64th Nayanmar and I believe Mahaperiya expressed. Nayanmar is being worshiped. I have heard most of his mahimaigal through you tube. Mahaperiyava himself expressed in one occasion. I also like to talk to them or meet with most of them who have experienced. But I could not do so as I cannot have their contact details. If he is alive everyone would have visited him. Recently I visited one ardent devotee of Mahaperiyava. When I tried to fall at his feet, he stopped me and asked me to offer worship to photo. Since Pradosha mama is no more and mahaperiyava considered him a 64th nayanmar, there is nothing wrong in offering worship to him.
Sir, There is nothing wrong to worship such great men
Every one is entitled to their own belief and faith.
But since it was on a public forum, I commented.
Pradosham Mama is considered as 64th Nayanmar by his devotees.
Like Mama, there were several devotees right from 1920s who considered Mahaperiyavaa as ‘Parameshwara’ and ultimately merged in Him.
My submission is when we worship Mahaperiyava, we offer worship to His countless devotees also.
I had the privilege of visiting Mama during my monthly Darshan of Mahaperiyava between 1985 and 1992.
Brahmasri Pradosham Mama was an ardent devotee of Mahaperiyavaa. There is no doubt about it.
Mama singing Thevaram and Tirupugazh with deep devotion was a rare sight to watch.
Mama was instrumental in mentoring several people in Mahaperiyava-Bhakthi.
But I am not sure whether it is proper to deify a devotee, even an ardent one like Mama, like this.
I do not mean to hurt anyone’s sentiments or feelings, but this is what I felt immediately after reading your message.
So thought of sharing it.

I agree. While Avataras and Ishwara/Ambal etc can be deified, Hindu faith does not accept cult figures and worshipping such cult figures.
We must have utmost reverence for Guru Parampara and Guru’s teachings , but worship should be only for God and HIS Avatars.
I do not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings.
First,what do we mean by Hindu faith? There is nothing called “Hindu faith”. I think all of us are used to referring these terms, so loosely without comprehending the depth of it. I just read Mahaperiyava’s Dheivathin Kural about Sanatana Dharama where he elaborates about our heritage as vaidheega Madam that doesn’t have a starting point and will not have an end. Please re-read once even if you’ve already read it.
Second, assuming the readers of this blog aspire to understand and believe “Advaita” eventually there is no athmic-difference between the post Jeevan Mukta stage of Pradosham Mama and “THE ONE”.
Third, idol or photo worship is subjective to one’s own preferences. For instance, some people have Vivekananda. Gandhiji. Some have photos of their parents. It isn’t about the photo. But, why you keep that photo/idol and what you experience within yourself when you look at it everyday. If some people aspire to develop a deep Bhakthi and devotion towards mahaperivaal and if having a look at Pradosham Mama helps them to develop that Bhakthi. Why not keep his photo if it aides in developing a Bhakthi?
Lastly, If one ponders on why they keep mahaperiyava photo along with other deities, one may realize that the periyava bhakthi shows the route to be purely devoted to God. And, Pradosham mama takes you to periyava. That’s why I concur with the view expressed in this blog about Hanuman-Pradosham Mama and Periyava-Rama.
