நம்மிடையயே சுகப்பிரம்மரிஷி அவர்களின் மகிமைக்கு ஒரு உதாரணம் காட்டும் உத்தம புருஷராய் திகழும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளெனும் மாமுனிவர் சாட்சாத் ஈஸ்வரரின் திரு அவதாரமேயாகும்.

நடமாடும் தெய்வமாகத் தன் அற்புதங்களையெல்லாம் வெளிக்காட்டாமல் திரு நாடகமாடினாலும் பலசமயங்களில் தன் அவதார ரகசியங்களை வெளிப்படுத்தி பக்தர்களைப் பரவசப்படுத்தும் மகா காருண்யமும் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அருளியுள்ளார்.

‘லோகநாதராய்த் திகழும் ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளுக்குத் தெரியாதவைகள் என்பது ஏதேனும் உண்டோ?’ என ஈச்சங்குடி கணேசய்யர் என்ற அன்பர் வியக்கும் ஒரு சம்பவம்.

இவர் இஞ்சினியராக இருந்து ஒய்வு பெற்றவர். தன் மனைவியுடன் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா தரிசனத்திற்கு வந்தார்.

“எவ்வளவு தொகை செலவானாலும் பரவாயில்லை. எனக்கு ஏதேனும் ஒரு கைங்கர்யம் செய்வதற்குப் பெரியவா உத்தரவிட்டால் தேவலை”.

இப்படி கணேசய்யர் பிரார்த்தித்துக் கொண்டார். ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா மற்ற பக்தர்களுக்குப் பிரசாதம் கொடுத்து அனுப்பிவிட்டு இவரிடம் சொன்னார்.

“கும்பகோணத்தில் நிறைய பிள்ளையார் கோயில் இருக்கு. அரசமரத்தடி, ஆற்றங்கரை இங்கெல்லாம் மேற்கூரை இல்லாத பிள்ளையார்கள் அதிகம். கும்பகோணம் டவுனைச் சுற்றி ஒரு கிலோமீட்டர் வரையில் உள்ள எல்லா பிள்ளையார்களுக்கும் –  கோவிலில் இருந்தாலும், குளத்தங்கரையில் இருந்தாலும், எண்ணெய் சாற்றி அபிஷேகம் செய்து சந்தனப் பொட்டு வைச்சு, ஊதுவத்தி ஏத்தி வைச்சு, தேங்காய், பழம், வெற்றிலை, பாக்கு, நைவேத்யம் செய்து விடு, அது போதும்”.

கணேசய்யர் என்ற பெயர் கொண்ட பக்தருக்கு கும்பகோணதிலுள்ள அத்தனை கணேசருக்கும் பூஜை செய்விக்க உத்தரவானதில் பேரானந்தம்தான்.

இருந்தாலும் “எனக்கு இந்த பூஜை புனஸ்காரமெல்லாம் பழக்கமில்லை. இருப்பத்திநாலு வருஷமா வடக்கே போய் செட்டில் ஆயிட்டேன். அதனாலே உள்ளூரிலே யாரிடமும் பரிச்சியம் கிடையாது” என்று தன் இயலாமையை முறையிட்டார்.

ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா, ஸ்ரீ பாலு அவர்களை அழைத்து “கும்பகோணம் பழக்கடைத் தியாகுவுக்கு ஒரு லெட்டர் எழுதிப்போடு. அவன் எல்லா உதவியையும் செய்வான்” என்று அனுப்பினார்.

கூடவே இந்தக் கைங்கர்யம் நிறைவேறியவுடன் அவரையும் கணேசய்யரோடு வரச் சொல்லியும் எழுதச்சொன்னார்.

அதன்படிப் பழக்கடைத் தியாகு என்ற அன்பர் தன் மனைவியோடு கணேசய்யர் இல்லத்திற்கு வந்தார். உடனடியாக ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் உத்தரவை ஆரம்பித்தார்கள். மூன்று நாட்களுக்கு ராஜா வேதபாடசாலையின் வேன் இவர்களுக்கு ஒதுக்கப்பட்டது.

ஸ்ரீ மடம் வாசற்புறம் அமைந்திருந்த கருங்கல் தூணிலுள்ள பிள்ளையாரிலிருந்து ஆரம்பித்து எங்கெல்லாம் பிள்ளையார் தென்படுகிறாரோ அங்கெல்லாம் தேடித் தேடி ஒரு பிள்ளையாரையும் விட்டு விடக் கூடாதென்ற சிரத்தையோடு கிட்டத்தட்ட நூற்று அறுபத்தெட்டுப் பிள்ளையார்களைக் கண்டுபிடித்து பூஜைக்கான ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்துவிட்டனர். கிட்டத்தட்ட ஐந்து டின் நல்லெண்ணெய், அரைக்கிலோ சந்தனம், ஒரு கிலோ கற்பூரம், ஐம்பது பாக்கெட் ஊதுபத்தி இவைகளைக் கோவிலில் உள்ள பிள்ளையாருக்கு அந்தந்த சிவாசார்யார்களிடம் கொடுத்தும், வெளியே இருந்த பிள்ளையார்களுக்கு அவர்களாகவே தெரிந்த மட்டும் அபிஷேகம் பூஜைகளையும் செய்தனர்.

கை, கால் உடைந்து பின்னமாக இருக்கும் சில பிள்ளையார்களை விட்டு விடலாமா என்று சந்தேகம் வந்தது.  அது பற்றி ஸ்ரீ மடத்தில் கூறி ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளிடம் கேட்டப்போது “ஏன் கை, கால் உடைந்த மனிதர்கள் உலகில் உயிர் வாழ்வதில்லையா? அதுபோல் தான் இதுவும்” என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா அருளியதாகத் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.  ஆகவே பின்னமான பிள்ளையார்களும் விடுபடாமல் பூஜைகளை ஏற்றுக் கொண்டனர்.

இப்படி ஒரு பிள்ளையாரையும் விடவில்லை என்ற உறுதியோடுதான் இவர்கள் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் உத்தரவை நிறைவேற்றிவிட்டதாகக் கருதி இதை ஸ்ரீ மகானை தரிசித்து அவரிடம் தெரிவிக்கச் சென்றனர்.

அப்போது ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவா கர்நூல் அருகே ஒரு கிராமத்தில் அருளிக்கொண்டிருக்க, தியாகுவும், கணேசய்யர் குடும்பமும் அங்கு தரிசிக்கச் சென்று இதை சமர்ப்பித்து நின்றனர். அத்தனை விபரங்களையும் கேட்டுக்கொண்ட அந்த நடமாடும் தெய்வம் இவர்களை திகைக்க வைக்கும் ஒரு கேள்வியைக் கேட்டார்.

“இன்னும் ஆறு பிள்ளையார்கள் இருக்கே? எப்படி விட்டுப்போச்சு?”என்று ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கேட்டபோது இவர்கள் வியப்பில் ஒன்றும் கூற இயலாமல் நின்றனர். இப்படித் தேடித் தேடி மூலை முடுக்கிலெல்லாம் இருந்த பிள்ளையார்களுக்கு அபிஷேக ஆராதனை முடித்துவிட்டு வந்ததாக எண்ணிக் கொண்டிருந்தவர்களுக்கு, இங்கிருந்தபடியே சரியாக ஆறு பிள்ளையார்கள் விட்டுப்போனதாக ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கூறுவது மிகவும் ஆச்சர்யத்தை அளித்தது.

ஸ்ரீபெரியவா தானே அதற்கும் விடை சொல்லும் வகையில் “சாக்கோட்டை பக்கம் ஒரு பிள்ளையார், சுவாமிமலை போகும் சாலையில் ஒரு வினாயகர், குடியானவர்கள் தெருவில் அவர்கள் கோலாகலமாகக் கொண்டாடும் ஒரு பிள்ளையார், அரசலாற்றங்கரைப் பிள்ளையார், மரத்தடிப் பிள்ளையார்” என்று சரியாக ஆறு பிள்ளையார்களை ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா கூற அவைகள் அவர்கள் கண்ணுக்கு விடுப்பட்டிருப்பது அப்போது  புரிந்தது..

“அதனாலே பரவாயில்லே. ஊருக்குப் போனதும் இந்த ஆறு பிள்ளையாருக்கும் அபிஷேக ஆராதனை பண்ணிடு” என்று தன்னுடைய அபூர்வ மகிமையை மறைத்து ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா இவர்களைத் திசைத் திருப்பினார்.

கும்பகோணத்தில் பிறந்து அங்கேயே வளர்ந்து எல்லா இடங்களையும் தெரிந்தவராக இருந்தாலும், நூற்று அறுபத்தெட்டுப் பிள்ளையார்களுக்கும் மேல் ஆறு பிள்ளையார்கள் விடுபட்டதைக் கூறுவதென்பது சாத்யமாகுமா என்ன?

சர்வக்ஞராக ஈஸ்வர பெரியவாளுக்கு மட்டுமே இது சாத்யமான ஒன்று. இதனை பரிபூர்ணமாக அன்று கணேசய்யரும், தியாகுவும் உணர்ந்த ஆனந்தத்தோடு பரமேஸ்வரரை நமஸ்கரித்துச் சென்றனர்.

ஆபத்பாந்தவன்

ஸ்ரீநிவாசன் என்கிற ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளின் பக்தர் கூறும் ஆபூர்வ தகவல் அவருடைய நான்கு வயது மகன் விசாகன் மூன்றாம் மாடியிலிருந்து எட்டிப் பார்த்தப்போதுத் தவறி விழுந்துவிட்டான். மூர்ச்சையடைந்த பாலகனை எந்த நம்பிக்கையுமின்றி இராயப்பேட்டை ஆஸ்பத்திரிக்குக் கொண்டு சென்றனர்.

வெளியில் எங்கும் காயமில்லை. இருந்தாலும் உள்ளே ஏதாவது அடிப்பட்டிருக்க வேண்டுமென்ற உறுதியோடு தலையிலும் மற்ற பாகங்களையும் எக்ஸ்ரே எடுத்தனர். ஆனால் உள்ளேயும் எந்தவித பாதிப்பும் இல்லாதது தெரிந்தது. எலும்பு முறிவும் இல்லவே இல்லை என ஊர்ஜிதமானது. எல்லோருக்கும் இது புதிராகவே இருந்தது.

பக்கத்திலிருந்த மரங்களில் உரசி விழுந்ததால் உடலில் அங்கங்கே சில சிராய்ப்புகள்தான் இருந்தன. டாக்டர்களுக்கே பெரும் ஆச்சர்யமாக இருந்தது.

மூர்ச்சையான சிறுவன் ஆறு மணிக்கு மெள்ள நினைவு பெற்றுக் கண் திறந்து பார்த்தான். பிறகு தட்டு தடுமாறிப் பேச ஆரம்பித்தான்.

“அப்பா! மாடிலேர்ந்து எட்டிப் பார்த்தபோது கால் தவறி விழுந்துட்டேன். அப்போ நீ பூஜை செய்யும் போட்டோவில் இருக்கிற பெரியவா என்னை ரெண்டு கையாலேயும் தாங்கிப் பிடித்தார். நெத்திலே வீபூதி குங்குமமிட்டார்”.

இப்படி ஒரு அதிசியத்தைக் குழந்தை கூற கூடியிருந்தவர்கள் வியந்தனர். அதே சமயத்தில் காஞ்சி சென்றிருந்த இவர்கள் வீட்டின் பக்கத்தில் இருந்த ஹரிஹர ஐயர் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவாளின் பிரசாதத்தோடு அங்கு வந்து மகானின் மேன்மையை உறுதிச் செய்தார்.

ஸ்ரீநிவாசன் தரிசிக்கப் போகும்போதெல்லாம் ஸ்ரீ பெரியவா “மூன்றாம் மாடிலேர்ந்து விழுந்த விசாகன் என்ன படிக்கிறான்? எப்படி இருக்கிறான்? என்று கேட்டபடி அருளுவாராம்.

இப்படி எங்கிருந்தாலும் காத்திடும் மகா காருண்யரை நாம் பற்றிக் கொண்டு சகல நன்மைகளையும் பெறுவோமாக!

கருணை தொடர்ந்து பெருகும்

ஒரு துளி தெய்வாமிருதம்

“வாழ்க்கைத்தரம்” என்பது மிகவும் உயர்ந்த விஷயம். நல்ல குணங்களோடு, ஈஸ்வர பக்தியுடன் வாழ்கிற வாழ்வே தரமான வாழ்வு. பொருளாதாரத் தேவைகளை அதிகமாக்கிக் கொண்டே போவதைத்தான் வாழ்க்கைத்தரம் என்கிறார்கள். இதைவிட மனசினாலே உயர்ந்து, வாஸ்தவமாகவே வாழ்க்கைத் தரத்தை உயர்த்திக் கொள்வதைத் தான் பெரிதாக எண்ணவேண்டும்.

The Yoga  Murthy,   Sri  Sri  Sri  MahaperiavA,  who  shines  amongst  us    as  an  example to  the  high  status  of   Suka  Brahma  Rishi  is  none  other  than  the  incarnation  of  SAksAt   Lord  Parameswaran.

Although  He  enacts  a  drama,  not  revealing  His  miracles,  at  times  He  has  revealed  the  secrets  of  His  AvatAr  to  His  devotees  and  blessed  them.

Echangudi  Ganesa  Iyer  is  amazed  at  a  particular  incident  and  wonders  if  there  was  anything  at  all  that    was   not  known  to  Sri  Sri  MahaPeriavA !

He  is  a  retired  engineer.  He  came  for  PeriavA  Dharsan  with  his  wife.

“I  will  be  happy  if  PeriavA  assigns  some  service  to  me,  whatever  be  the  expenses”—said  he  to  Sri  PeriavA.  Sri  PeriavA,  after   giving   PrasAdhams  to  all other  devotees,  and  sending   them  off,  told  him.

“There  are  plenty  of  PillaiyAr  temples  in  Kumbakonam.  PillaiyArs  without  a  roof  on  top  are  plenty  under  the  Banyan  trees  and  on  the  banks  of  rivers.  You  do  AbhishEkam  with  (gingiley)  oil,  decorate  them  with  sandal  paste ,  light  up  incense  sticks,  and  perform  NeyvEdhyam  with  coconut,  fruit,  betel  nut  and  leaves,  to  all  the  PillaiyArs  whether  they  are  inside  the  temples  or near  ponds,  within  one  kilometer  radius  of   the  town.  That  will  do.!”

Ganesa  Iyer  was  very  happy  on  being  asked  to  perform  PoojA  to  all  the  PillaiyAr  temples  in  Kumbakonam.  But  he  expressed  his  difficulty,  “  I  am  not  familiar  with  all  these  Pooja   practices.  I  had  settled  in  the  North  for  the  past  24  years,  and  so  I  do  know  anybody  in  my  neighbourhood.”

Sri  PeriavA  called  Sri  Balu  and  told  him   “ write  to  Kumbakonam  Pazhakkadai  Thyagu.  He  will  render  all  the  help.  Also,  ask  him  to  come  here  along  with  Ganesa  Iyer  after  the  ‘Kainkaryam’  (task)  is  completed.”

Pazhakkadai  Thyagu  came  to  Ganesa  Iyer’s  house  with  his  wife.  They  started  with  their  assignment   immediately.  The  van  belonging  to  Raja  Veda  PAtasAlai  was  given  for  their  use  for  three  days.

Starting  from  the  PillaiyAr  on  the  granite  pillar  at  the  entrance  of  Sri  Matam,  they  located  168  PillaiyAr  idols,  by  meticulously  searching  everywhere  and  arranged  for  the  PoojA  for  all  of  them.

Nearly  five  tins  of  Til  oil,  half  a  kilogram  of  sandal  paste,  one  kilogram  of  camphor,  and  fifty  packets  of  incense  sticks  were  either  given  to  the  SivAchAriyArs  of  the  temples  where  PillaiyAr  idols  were  there  or  they  themselves  did  the  PoojA  for  the  PillaiyArs  on  the  outside.

They  had  some  doubt  about  performing  PoojA  to  some  PillaiyAr  statues  in which   some   limbs  were  broken;  when  they  contacted  PeriavA  through  SriMatam  officials,  they  came  to  know  that  Sri  PeriavA  said, “Are  not  humans  with  legs  and  hands  broken,  living  in  this  world?  Ask  them  to  do  PoojA   for  them  also !”.  Therefore  even  those  mutilated  idols  also  received  the  PoojA  and  AbhishEkam.

They  returned  to  Kanchipuram  with  the  conviction  that  they  have  not  left  out  any  PillaiyAr  in  Kumbakonam.  Sri  PeriavA  was  in  Kurnool  at  that  time and  so  both  families  went  there  to  have  His  Dharsan  and  also  to  inform  Him  that  they  have  fulfilled  the  task.  After  hearing  all  that  they  had  to  say,  Sri  PeriavA  surprised  them  with  a  question.

“Six  more  PillaiyArs  are  still  there.  How  were  they  left  out?”.  They  were  surprised  that  when  they  had  gone  about  searching  each  and  every  PillaiyAr  idol  and  performed  the  AbhishEkam  and  PoojA,  how   could  Sri  PeriavA    identify  six  more,  sitting  here.

Sri  PeriavA  answered  His  question  Himself,  “One  PillaiyAr  near  Chakkottai,  one  on  the  road  leading  to  Swamimalai,  one  in  the  peasant  street,  one  on  the  bank  of  river  ‘ArasalAru’  and  another  under  the  tree.”  They  then  realized  that  they  have  missed  out  these  six.

“That  is  alright !  When  you  return  to  Kumbakonam,  perform  the  AbhishEkam  and  PoojA  to  these  six  PillaiyArs  also.”—saying  this,  Sri  PeriavA    diverted  their  mind.

Even  if  one  is  born  and  brought  up  in  Kumbakonam  and  knows  every  place  there,   is  it  possible  to  say  that  there  are  six  more  left,  over  and  above  the  168  PillaiyAr  idols  there?

It   is  possible  only  to  the  ‘All—Knowing’  Sri  PeriavA.  Ganesa  Iyer  and  Thyagu  realized  this  that  day  and  prostrated  before  Sri  PeriavA.

Srinivasan,   a  devotee  of  Sri  PeriavA,    narrates  this  rare  incident.

His  four-year  old  son,  Visakan,  while  looking  down  from  the  third  floor  of  the  house,  fell  down  from  there  and  swooned.  They  took  him  to  Royapetta  hospital,  without  any  hope  what  so  ever .

There  was  no  external  wound.  They  x—rayed his  head  and  other  parts  in  order  to  confirm  that  there  is  no  internal  injury;   they  did  not  find  any.  It  was  also  confirmed  that  there  was  no  fracture.  Everyone  was  puzzled  at  this.

As  his  body,  when  he  fell  down,   rubbed  with  some  branches  of  a  tree  nearby,  there  were  a  few  bruises.  The  doctors  were  amazed  at  this.

The  boy  came  out  of  his  swoon,  around  six o’clock  and  slowly  opening  eyes,  spoke  in  broken  words.

“Father,  I  fell  down  while  looking  down  from  the  third  floor.  The  ‘PeriyavA’  in  the  photo  to  whom  you  are  doing  PoojA,  held  me  with  his  two  hands  and  even  applied  sacred  ash  and  Kumkum  on  my  forehead.”

Those  who  were  around  were  surprised    on  hearing  this.  At  that  time  Sri  Harihara  Iyer,  his  neighbor,  who  had  been  to  Kanchi,  returned  there  and  gave  them  the  PrasAdham,  confirming  the  greatness  of  Sri  PeriavA

Whenever  Srinivasan  goes  for  His  Dharsan,  Sri  PeriavA  would  enquire, “How  is  Visakan  who  fell  down  from  the  third  floor?  Which  class  he  is  studying  in?”

Let  us  hold  on  to  this  great  epitome  of  compassion,  who  protects  us  wherever  we  are,  and  get  all  the  benefits.

Quality  of  life  is  an  important   matter.  The  life  we  lead  with  all  good  qualities  and  devotion  to  Eswaran,  is  the  one  of  highest  quality.  People  say  that  a  good  life  is  one  where  we  keep  on  increasing  our  financial  needs.  But,  our  aim  should   be  to   raise  our  mind   and  quality  of life  to  a  higher   level.
