Your family may have a tradition of worshipping Muruga. But you may be devoted to Ambal, the Mother Goddess. If you desire to invite some respected elder to perform Sri Chakra Pooja at home do so; but after performing Kavadi, Maavilakku, Sashti Pooja, or Karthigai Vratham – whatever may be the tradition at home to worship Lord Subramanya. You may be a Vaishnavite who may be attached to the Adwaitic philosophy. So you may want to perform some service to the Aacharya. You may want to come to the matam to offer Biksha to me. Do so – but only after offering Biksha to the Jeeyar who is your Aacharya according to birth. Follow the family traditions to the maximum.
