“ஹேவிளம்பி” வர்ஷ அனுக்ரஹம்

‘வாழைமரம்’ பற்றி நம் பெரியவா திருவாக்கு… ‘ஹேவிளம்பி’ வர்ஷத்துக்கான உபதேஸமாகவும் ஆஸிர்வாதமாகவும் கொள்வோம்!
“வாழை ஒண்ணுதான்…. அதோட, பூ, பழம், காய், தண்டு, எலை, நார்-ன்னு அத்தனையும் பொறத்தியார் உபயோஹத்துக்கு போறது! அதே மாதிரி… நாமளும் எல்லா வகைலயும் பொறத்தியாருக்கும், இந்த லோகத்துக்கும் உபயோஹமா இருக்கணும்….அதோட…. வாழைமரத்ல..பாத்தாக்க…. அதோட வேர்லயே, குட்டி வாழைமரம் ‘வாழையடி வாழை’ன்னு வளரும்… அதே மாதிரி… நம்ம குடும்பத்லயும் கொழந்தேள் பொறந்து…. வம்ஸம் வ்ருத்தியாகும்…. அதுக்குத்தான் எந்த விஸேஷம்-னாலும், வீடுகள்ள… வாழைமரம் கட்றது!…”

[வாழவைக்கும், நன்கு வாழ வாழ்த்தும் மரமாகவும் இருப்பதாலும்தான்! ]

ஸ்ரீமடத்தில், தமிழ்வர்ஷப் பிறப்புக்கு முதல் நாள் ராத்ரி, ஆள் உயர கண்ணாடியைக் கொண்டு வந்து வைத்து, அதற்கு வாழைமரத்தை தோரணமாகக் கட்டி அலங்காரம் செய்யப்படும். எல்லாவகைப் பழங்கள், காய்கள், வெற்றிலை, பாக்கு, பலவிதப் புஷ்பங்கள், வாழைப்பூ, மாம்பூ, சரக்கொன்றை இவற்றை வாழை இலையில் பரப்பி கண்ணாடி முன்னால்  வைக்கப்படும்.

கண்ணாடியின் ரெண்டு பக்கமும் தங்கச் சங்கிலிகளால் அலங்காரம் பண்ணப்பட்டிருக்கும். தங்கத்தில் ஶ்ரீமஹாலக்ஷ்மி வாஸம் செய்வதால், தங்கம் ஒரு மங்களமான வஸ்து! கண்ணாடிக்கு சந்தன-குங்குமப் பொட்டு வைத்து, அதன்முன், அழகாக முத்துமுத்தாக ஐந்து முகம் விளக்கேற்றி வைக்கப்பட்டு ஒளிரும். 1008 ஒரு-ரூபாய் காஸும் ஒரு தாம்பாளத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

உள்ளூர்-வெளியூரில் இருந்தெல்லாம், பெரிய பெரிய வித்வான்கள் எல்லாரும், முந்தின நாளே…. ஸ்ரீமடத்தில் வந்து தங்கிவிடுவார்கள்….. தங்கள் வாத்யங்களுடன்!

விடியக்காலை 3 மணிக்கே எழுந்து குளித்து, அந்த மஹா ஜ்யோதிஸ்ஸின் விஶ்வரூப தர்ஶனத்துக்காக, எல்லாரும் காத்திருப்பார்கள். ஸ்ரீமடம் வாஸலிலும், பெரியவாளுடைய ஸயன அறையின் வாஸலிலும் பெரிய பெரிய கோலங்கள் போடப்பட்டு, செம்மண் பூஸப்பட்டிருக்கும். கோலத்தில் குத்துவிளக்கு ஏற்றப்பட்டு ஜ்வலிக்கும்.

நம்முடைய பெரியவா ஸயனத்திலிருந்து எழுந்து வரும் ஸமயம், மங்கள வாத்யங்களும், வித்வான்களின் கைவண்ணத்தில் பலவித வாத்யங்களும் ஸுஸ்வரமாக ஒலிக்க…. ஆஹா! ஸ்ரீபுரத்தில் அம்பிகைக்கு நடக்கும் மங்கள உபசாரமாகவே இருக்கும்!

பெரியவா வெளியில் வரும்போது….. கண்களை மூடிக் கொண்டுதான் வருவார்! குழந்தைகள் தங்கள் ப்ரியத்தை எல்லாம் கொட்டி, அம்மா, அப்பாவுக்காக ‘surprise’ என்று ஏதோ செய்து வைத்துவிட்டு, அவர்களுடைய கண்களை கட்டிவிட்டு கூட்டிக் கொண்டு வருவது போலிருக்கும்!

அலங்காரம் செய்துவைத்த கண்ணாடி முன் நின்று கொண்டு, தன் நயனங்களைத் திறப்பார் பெரியவா!
ஸாக்ஷாத்  பரமேஶ்வரன் தன் கல்யாணக் கோலத்தை கண்ணாடி முன் நின்று பார்த்துக் கொண்டு….’ஸுந்தரா! வா!….” என்று இப்படித்தான் அழைத்திருப்பானோ!
பெரியவா தன் முன்னால் உள்ள கண்ணாடியைப் பார்க்கும்போது, பக்கத்தில் நிற்கும் தன்னுடைய அத்யந்த பாரிஷதர்களை பார்த்து…..

“டேய்! நீ கூட…. கண்ணாடில தெரியறியேடா…..!”

சிரித்துக் கொண்டே சொல்லுவார். அந்த ஒரு க்ஷணம் போறுமே! மோக்ஷமெல்லாம் ரெண்டாம் பக்ஷமே!

அங்கு தன்னுடைய பாரிஷதர்களும், பக்தர்களும் தனக்காக பண்ணி வைத்திருக்கும் அலங்காரங்களை அன்போடு பார்த்து ரஸிப்பார். எல்லாருடனும் உரையாடுவார். புது வர்ஷ ஆரம்பத்தில்.. பெரியவாளுடன் பேசியதை எண்ணியெண்ணி ஆனந்தமாக வாழ்க்கையை நடத்துவார்களே!

அன்று அங்கு தர்ஶனத்துக்கு வந்திருக்கும் அத்தனை பக்தர்களுக்கும், பாரிஷதர்களுக்கும் நம்முடைய பெரியவா, தன் திருக்கரத்தால் மஹா அனுக்ரஹமாக ‘ஒரு ரூபாய் காஸு’ தருவார். வித்வான்கள் எல்லாருக்கும், ஸ்ரீமடத்தின் ஸார்பாக, ஸால்வை வழங்கப்படும்.
நாமும் நம்முடைய பெரியவாளுடைய ஸ்ரீபாதகமலத்தை ஸதா த்யானம் செய்தவண்ணம்….. இந்த புது வர்ஷத்தையும் ஆனந்தமாக ஆரம்பிப்போம்!

Maha Periyava’s Anugraham for Hevilambi Tamizh New Year

Periyava’s thoughts on “Plaintain/Banana tree”. Let us take this as an Upadesha and blessings for Hevilambi year and all the years to come.

Banana tree is only one, but its flower, fruit, raw fruit, stem, leaf and fiber are all useful. Similarly, we have to be useful to others in all the ways possible. Since there will always be another small banana plant in its root, the term “Vazhayadi Vazhayaga” became very popular, which is used to bless any family to grow like the Banana tree. This is the same reason, during all the auspicious function, banana tree is tied at the house. [It is a tree that wishes (Vazhthu) for living well and also sustains life].

In Sri Matam, the night before the Tamizh New Year, a tall mirror is placed. The mirror is decorated with banana tree. In a big banana leaf, fruits, vegetables, betel leaves, various flowers including banana, mango are placed before the mirror.

The mirror is also decorated with gold chains on both sides. Gold is considered auspicious, since it is believed that Goddess Lakshmi resides in Gold. Sandal-Kumkum is applied to the mirror and a five sided lighted lamp is placed next to it. There is also a plate with 1008 one rupee coins.

Sri Matam will be filled with lots of musicians from different towns.

Everybody wakes up at 3 am, and after a bath wait for the Viswaroopa Darisanam of Periyava. There will be kolam (rangoli) in front of the Matham and Periyava’s retiring room with a lamp in it.

When Periyava makes his appearance, music will be played and it will look like how Goddess Ambika would have been welcomed.

When Periyava comes out in the morning, his eyes will usually be closed. It looks how, when kids, who wants to surprise their parents, ask them to close their eyes and come, Periyava will stand before the mirror and open his eyes.When the devotees saw this scene, they thought, maybe the Lord would have looked at Himself and said “Sundara come”.
When Periyava looks at the mirror, he will also say to the devotees standing next to Him, “I can see you also in the mirror” with a smile. That moment will make the devotees feel that even getting Moksha was secondary.

Periyava will stand near the mirror and enjoy all the decorations. He will talk to everybody who have come there. What does anyone need other than Periyava’s words for the New Year.

Everybody who have come there will get a “one rupee” coin. All the musicians will also get shawls from the Matam.

Let us also keep chanting Periyava’s Namaa and start this New Year happily.
