கேள்வி என்னவென்றால்: “எந்த ஸித்தாந்தமானாலும் உன் நம்பிக்கைப்படி வைத்துக் கொள்ளு, அதற்காகக் குலாசாரத்தை மாற்றாதே என்று சொன்னீர்கள். ஸரி. ஆனால் நமக்கு மூர்த்தி உபாஸனை, இஷ்ட தெய்வம் என்பதும் முக்கியமாயிருக்கிறதே! நம்முடைய மதத்தில் இத்தனை தெய்வங்களைச் சொல்லி, ஒவ்வொன்றுக்கும் புராணம், ஸ்தோத்ரம், க்ஷேத்ரம் என்று வைத்திருப்பதால் அவற்றில் ஒவ்வொருவனுக்கும் ஏதாவது ஒன்றில் விசேஷப் பிடிப்பு ஏற்படுகிறதே!  இப்படியிருப்பதில், நான் விசிஷ்டாத்வைத வைஷ்ணவாகப் பிறந்தாலும் எனக்கு அத்வைதத்திலும் சிவனிடத்திலுமே பிடிப்பு இருக்கிதென்றால், உங்கள் உபதேசப்படி அத்வைதத்துக்காக விசிஷ்டாத்வைத பூர்வாசாரத்தை விட வேண்டியதில்லைதான் என்று பார்த்தால், இதுவே என் பக்தி உபாஸனையில் குறுக்கே வந்து மோதுகிறதே! எனக்கு சிவனிடம்தான் ஸ்வாபாவிகமாக பக்தி என்றாலும் விஷ்ணுவை அல்லவா பூஜை பண்ணியாக வேண்டியிருக்கிறது? எந்தக் கர்மாவானாலும் ஸித்தாந்த அநுபவத்துக்குப் பூர்வாங்மான சித்த சுத்திக்குப் பிரயோஜனமாகிறது என்று மனஸை ஸரிப்படுத்திக் கொண்டு செய்கிறது போல, விஷ்ணுவை வைத்துப் பூஜை பண்ணினால் அது சிவபூஜைதான் என்று மனஸை எப்படி ஸமாதானப்படுத்திக் கொள்வது?” -என்று கேட்டால் என்ன பதில்? அல்லது சைவராகப் பிறந்த ஒருவருக்கு விஷ்ணுவிடம்தான் பக்தி என்று அவர் இதே போலக் கேட்டால் என்ன சொல்வது? ஸ்மார்த்தர் ஒருவர், “சிவ பூஜைதான் அகத்தில் இருந்து வந்திருக்கிறது. எனக்கு [அம்பாளின்] ஸ்ரீசக்ர பூஜையில்தான் ஈடுபாடு இருக்கிறது; அல்லது முருகனிடந்தான் தன்னால் பக்தி வருகிறது. நான் என்ன?” பண்ண என்று கேட்டால் என்ன செய்வது? – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள் மொழிகள்

Here is the question: You had told us that whatever be your philosophical conviction follow it but do not give up your traditions. A doubt arises because the worship of a form and a God dear to our heart is very important to us and our religion speaks of numerous Gods and there are Puranas, Slokas, and Kshetras for each of them and each individual is attracted towards one particular God. A person may ask “Under these circumstances, if I have been born as a Vishtaadvaita Vaishnavite and my leanings are towards Advaita and Siva, I may continue to observe the traditions of my ancestors as per your instructions but this compliance seems to hinder my devotional practices. If by nature, my devotion is towards Siva, I am forced to worship Vishnu. I may be able to accept the performance of ritualistic practices under the belief that any Karma will lead to the purification of the mind and the eventual philosophical realization. But how can I tell myself that Vishnu Pooja is Siva Pooja?” How to answer this query? Similarly if a Saivite who is drawn towards Vishnu poses a question on the same lines, how to answer him?
