The social reformers belonging to the last century or two have been advocating that a majority of these traditions (Aacharams) should be given up. Every time a social reformer appears on the scene, he states that the weeds cluttering the fields of our religion should be removed to ensure the prosperity of the cultivation. If, thus, every person removes, what according to him is the weed, then there will be no grain left in the field.
