ஆசார்யாள் ‘ப்ரச்நோத்தர ரத்ன மாலிகா’ என்று கேள்வியும் பதிலுமாக ஒரு புஸ்தகம் எழுதியிருக்கிறார். அதிலே ஒரு கேள்வி, “உலகத்தில் தீட்டாக ஆவது எது?” என்பது: “கிமிஹ ஆசௌசம் பவேத்?” சுசி என்றால் சுத்தம். அசுசி [என்றால்] அசுத்தம். அசுசியுள்ளது ஆசௌசம். தேவ கார்யங்களுக்கு உதவாதபடி ஆக்குகிற சாவுத் தீட்டு, பிரஸவத் தீட்டு முதலானவற்றையே சாஸ்திரங்களில் ஆசௌசம் என்று சொல்லியிருக்கிறது. இங்கே, சிஷ்யன் “ஆசௌசம் எது?” என்று கேட்பதாகவும், அதற்கு குரு பதில் சொல்வதாகவும் ஆசார்யாள் சொல்லுகிறார். அந்தப் பதில் என்ன?

ருணம் ந்ருணாம்

”ந்ருணாம்” என்றால் “மநுஷ்யனுக்கு”, “மநுஷ்யனாகப் பிறந்த எல்லாருக்கும்” என்று அர்த்தம். ”ருணம்” என்றால் ‘கடன்’, “மநுஷ்ய ஜன்மா எடுத்தவனுக்குப் பெரிய தீட்டு கடன் படுவதுதான்” என்று ஆசார்யாள் சொல்கிறார். ஏன் அப்படிச் சொன்னார்? தீட்டு வந்தால் என்ன பண்ணுகிறோம்? இந்தக் காலத்தில் ஒன்றும் பண்ணுவதில்லை. “தீட்டாவது, துடக்காவது? எல்லாம் ஸூபர்ஸ்டிஷன்” என்று ஆலய ஸந்நிதானம் உள்பட எல்லா இடத்திலும் ஆசௌசங்களைக் கலந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். பலனாகத்தான் துர்பிக்ஷம், நூதன நூதன வியாதிகள், மஹாக்ஷேத்ரங்களிலேயே விபத்துக்கள் என்று ஏற்பட்டுக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. ஆகையால் ஐம்பது வருஷத்துக்கு முன்வரை இருந்த நடைமுறையை வைத்தே, ஆசார்யாள் எழுதினதற்கு அர்த்தம் சொல்கிறேன். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ   சந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

Sri Adi Sankara Bhagawad Paadhaal has composed a work titled “Prachnoththara Rathna Maalikaa” which is in question and answer format. One question in this work is ‘Kimiha Aasowcham Bhaveth?’

‘Suchi’ means clean.  ‘Asuchi’ is unclean. Asowcham makes one unfit to participate in holy or Godly activities.  When a child is born in a house or when a close relative dies, according to our sastras, a state of ‘Aasowcham’ happens and one cannot participate in holy activities. One is in a state of ‘Theetu’.  In Bhagawath Paadhaal’s work, a disciple asks the above question to which Aachaaryaal gives the answer. What is the answer?

“Runam Nrunaam”

‘Nrunaam’ means pertaining to all those born as human beings. ‘Runam’ means debt. Sri Adi Sankara states that when a person gets into debt, he is in the most unclean state. Why did he say so?

What happens when we are in a state of Theetu? Nowadays, we do not do anything. We dismiss ‘Theetu’ as a matter of superstition and do not hesitate even to visit the temples with ‘Theetu’ and pollute them. It is because of such practices that famines, new diseases, and accidents even in the holiest of holy temples are taking place.
