டாப் லெவ’லில் இருப்பவனுக்கே பரோபகாரத்தைச் சொன்ன அத்வைத ஆசார்யாள் ஸாதாரண மநுஷ்யனுக்கும் அந்த லெவலுக்கு ஏறுகிற வழியில் இதை அங்கமாகச் சொல்லித்தானிருக்கிறார். “பணம் ஸம்பாதிக்கிறாயா? ஸம்பாதித்து விட்டுப்போ. ஆனால் அதை தார்மிகமாக ப்ரயோஜனப்படுத்தினாயானால் அதுவே உன் சித்தத்தைப் பரிசுத்தி பண்ண உதவும்” —

யல்லபஸே நிஜ கர்மோபாத்தம்
வித்தம் தேந விநோதய சித்தம்

என்று ‘பஜகோவிந்த’த்தில் சொல்கிறார். அதிலேயே ஆத்ம ஸம்பந்தமாக, பகவத் ஸம்பந்தமாக, “கீதையைச் சொல்லு, ஸஹஸ்ரநாமம் சொல்லு, விடாமல் லக்ஷ்மிபதியான மஹாவிஷ்ணுவை த்யானம் பண்ணு, ஸத்ஸங்கத்திலேயே மனஸை ஈடுபடுத்து” என்றெல்லாம் சொல்லிவிட்டு, முடிவாக “ஏழை எளியவர்களுக்குத் தான தர்மம் பண்ணு” என்று பரோபகாரத்தோடு முடிக்கிறார்:

கேயம் கீதா நாம ஸஹஸ்ரம்
த்யேயம் ஸ்ரீபதிரூபம் அஜஸ்ரம் |
நேயம் ஸஜ்ஜன ஸங்கே சித்தம்
தேயம் தீநஜநாய ச வித்தம் ||

ஆனதால் வேத தர்மம் (லோகம், ஜீவன் எல்லாம் மாயை என்கிற அத்வைதமும்கூட) ஜீவாத்ம கைங்கர்யங்களை ஈஸ்வர ஸம்பந்தத்துடனே சேர்த்துச் சேர்த்து எல்லாரும் பண்ணியாக வேண்டுமென்று கொடுத்திருப்பதைப் புரிந்து கொண்டு அப்படியே செய்ய வேண்டும். நம் பூர்விகர்கள் போனவழி அதுதான். அதிலேயே நாமும் போய் அத்வைத த்ருஷ்டியில் எல்லா உயிர்களையும் ஈஸ்வர ஸ்வரூபமாகப் பார்த்துத் தொண்டு செய்து ஈஸ்வர ப்ரஸாதத்தை அடைய வேண்டும்.

Sri Adi Shankara who advocated philanthropy to a person even in the highest stage of spiritual advancement identifies it as a vehicle of progress to a spiritual seeker. “If you desire to earn money do so; but spend it in the righteous way and it will purify your mind” – thus says Adi Shankara in ‘Bhaja Govindam”. In the same work, while enjoining people to chant Bhagawad Gita and Vishnu Sahasranamam (the holy thousand names of Bhagawan), meditate on Vishnu, (who has Lakshmi as His divine consort) and to spend time amidst the company of spiritually inclined souls (Sathsangam), he culminates with a directive to help the poor and the needy. So we should realize that the Vedic principles (even Adwaita which states that the the world and life are all Maya) lay emphasis on performing services to the living beings with a divine fervor.  We should follow this directive. This was the path our ancients trod upon. We should follow them and view all living beings with an Adwaitha Drushti (view) as manifestations of the supreme power and perform service to them, and thus obtain the Grace of Bhagawan, the Eswara prasadham.
