வேத தர்மத்தைப் பூர்ண ஜீவசக்தியுடன் ப்ரகாசமாகத் தூண்டிவிட்ட ஆசார்யள் வினா-விடை ரூபத்திலே ‘ப்ரச்நோத்தர ரத்நமாலிகா’ என்று அநுக்ரஹித்திருக்கிறார் அதிலே ஒரு கேள்வி:

“மநுஷ்யனாகப் பிறந்தவன் விரும்ப வேண்டியவற்றில் தலை சிறந்தது எது?” என்பது கேள்வி.

“தனக்கு நன்மையானது அதாவது ஸ்வயோபகாரம் இதோடு என்கிற பரோபகாரம். இரண்டுக்காகவும் பாடுபடும் வாழ்க்கைதான் மநுஷ்யன் வேண்டத் தக்கவற்றில் உச்சியானது என்று பதில் சொல்கிறார். இங்கே ஆசார்யாள் நவீனர்களின் ‘க்ரிடிஸிஸ’த்துக்கு ஆணி அடித்தாற்போல் விடை சொல்லியிருக்கிறார்.

இதே க்ரந்தத்தில் இன்னோரிடத்தில் சந்திர கிரணத்துக்கு ஸமானமான மனிதர்கள் ஸத்ஜனங்களே என்கிறார். சந்திர கிரணம் லோகத்துக்கெல்லாம் தாப சமனம் தருகிறது. சந்திரனுக்கு இப்படி உலகத்துக்கு உதவி செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று ஆசை இருந்து, இதற்காக அது ப்ரயத்தனப்படவேண்டும் என்று இல்லை. தன்னியல்பாகவே அது லோக ஹிதத்தை உண்டாக்குகிறது. அதேபோல ஸத்ஜனங்கள் என்கிற ஸாதுக்கள் “ஸோஷல் ஸர்வீஸ் பண்ணணும்” என்று அரிப்புப் பட்டுக்கொண்டு, தண்டோரா போட்டுச் செய்யணும் என்றே இல்லை. அவர்கள் தங்களுடைய ‘நேச்சர்’ படி இருப்பதே, நடப்பதே லோகஹிதமாக, பரோபகாரமாகத்தானிருக்கும். இதையேதான் ஸத்ஜனங்களுக்கெல்லாம் சிகரமாகப் பரம சாந்தர்களாக, மஹாந்தர்களாக இருக்கப்பட்ட ஜீவன் முக்தர்களின் லக்ஷணமாகவும் (ஆசார்யாள்) “விவேக சூடாமணி”யில் சொல்கிறார். இங்கே ‘சந்திர கிரணம் மாதிரி’ என்றவர் அங்கே “வஸந்த காலம் மாதிரி” என்கிறார். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

Shri Adi Shankara who infused the Vedic religion and principles with new life and has authored a work titled ‘Prachnothra Rathna Maalikaa” which is in the form of question and answer. One question is “What is the best a human being can desire?” The answer is “a life that not only aims at self upliftment but also is dedicated to Philanthropy. These two are the highest a human being can desire.”  Here the great Aacharya has, in one stroke, nullified the criticism of many modern critics about our religion. In the same way, he has also compared good people to the rays of the moon. The rays of the moon cool the earth and sooth the people. It does not make any strenuous effort to achieve this effect. This quality comes naturally to the moon. Similarly noble people are most consciously motivated to perform social service and they do not seek publicity for this. Their natural behavior in itself will be charitable and philanthropic in nature. In Viveka Choodamani, Sri Adi Shankara attributes the same characteristics to Jeevan Mukthas or the Enlightened Souls who are the noblest and most peaceful of beings.  In his work, he compares them to the season of spring. – Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal
