நாம் எத்தனை சின்னவர்களாக இருந்தாலும் நம்மாலும் முடியக் கூடிய சின்னத் தொண்டு இல்லாமலில்லை. இப்படி அவரவரும் தனியாகவோ, ஸங்கமாகச் சேர்ந்தோ ஏதாவது பொது நலக்கைங்கர்யம் பண்ணியே ஆக வேண்டும். தண்ணீரில்லாத ஊரில் ஒரு பத்து பேர் சேர்ந்து கிணறு வெட்டுவது; ஏதோ ஒரு பிள்ளையார் கோயில் மதில் இடிந்திருந்தால் அதை நாலு பேராகச் சேர்ந்து கட்டுவது; பூஜை நின்று போன ஒரு க்ராமக் கோயிலில் ஒரு காலப் பூஜைக்காவது நாலு பேரை யாசித்து மூலதனம் சேகரித்து வைப்பது; பசுக்கள் சொறிந்து கொள்வதற்கு ஒரு கல்லேனும் நாட்டுவது; நாம் படித்த நல்ல விஷயங்களை நாலு பேருக்குச் சொல்லுவது, எழுதுவது இரண்டு ஸ்லோகமாவது பாசுரமாவது நாமாவளியாவது பாடி நாலு பேர் மனஸில் பகவானைப் பற்றிய நினைப்பை உண்டாக்குவது; குப்பை கூளங்களைப் பெருக்குவது — இந்தமாதிரி ஏதாவது தொண்டு அன்றன்றும் செய்ய வேண்டும். ஓசைப்படாமல் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்பது முக்கியம். குடும்பக் கடமைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு ஸோஷல் ஸர்வீஸ் என்று கிளம்ப வேண்டியதில்லை. அதையும் விடாமலே, இதுவும் கடமை என்ற உணர்வோடு சேர்த்துக் கொண்டு செய்ய வேண்டும். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

However humble our position might be in the society there is always some service we can perform. Either individually or as part of an association, we should all perform social service. Wells can be dug in places without availability of water. If the compound wall of a Ganesha temple is broken, it can be rebuilt. If regular worships are not performed in any temple due to paucity of funds, efforts can be made to create a deposit through donations for performing pooja at least once a day. A stone can be erected for cattle to scratch their backs upon. We can share the good things we have read with the others. We can recite some slokas or Bhagawan Namas to inspire the thought of Bhagawan in others. We can even sweep the rubbish to maintain a clean surrounding. All have to be done without any publicity. We need not abandon our duties towards our families and perform social service.
