“உற்றார் ஆர் உளரோ? உயிர்கொண்டு போம் பொழுது? குற்றாலத்துறை கூத்தன் அல்லால் நமக் (கு) உற்றார் ஆர்உளரோ?” என்ற மாதிரி, அந்த அந்திம ஸமயத்தில் எல்லா பந்துமித்ரர்களையும் விட்டுவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டேயாக வேண்டும் என்னும்போது அவன் ஒருத்தனே பந்து என்று எந்த ஜீவனும் புரிந்து கொள்ளத்தான் செய்யும். புரிய வைக்காமல் கர்ம வாஸனை அதை நாலா தினுஸில் பிய்த்துப் பிடுங்கலாம். ஆனால் அந்த ஸமயத்தில், சுற்றியிருப்பவர்கள் பகவந்நாமாவைச் சொல்லிக் கொண்டிருந்தால், சட்டென்று அது ஒரு லகான் போட்டு அநதச் சாகிற ஜீவனின் நினைப்பை பகவானிடம் திரும்பும்படிப் பண்ணலாம். அந்த ஸமயத்திலேயே ப்ராணன் ஒடுங்கிவிட்டால் அவனை பரமாத்மா எடுத்துக்கொண்டுதான் ஆகவேண்டும். கீதையில் அவர் அப்படி வாக்குக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். வாழ்நாள் முழுவதும் நினைக்கிறானா, நினைக்கவில்லையா என்பதைப் பாராட்டாமல் irrespective -ஆக “கடைசியில் எதெதை நினைத்தாலும் அததை அடைகிறான்” என்று அவர் சொல்லி விட்டதால், இந்த ஜீவன் எப்படி வாழ்க்கை நடத்தியிருந்தாலும், கடைசியில் அவரை நினைத்து விட்டதற்காக அதை அவர் எடுத்துக் கொண்டுதான் ஆகவேண்டும். கடைசி நேரத்தில் அடியோடு நிராதரவான ஒரு ஜீவனுக்கு உண்டாகிற தாபத்தோடு, சுற்றியிருக்கிற நமக்கும் அது கடைத்தேற வேண்டுமே என்பதில் ஹ்ருதய பூர்வமான கவலை இருந்து பகவானை ப்ரார்த்தித்துக்கொண்டு நாமாவைச் சொன்னால் அதற்குப் பலன் இராமல் போகாது. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

As the emotional outpouring of Devaram states, as one breathes his last, the only true relative is Eshwara. In the final stages of life, as the living being has to leave behind all the relatives and friends it had known in this life, it will definitely realize that Eshwara is the sole relative and friend to any soul. The exigencies of Karma may cloud this realization. But at such a juncture, if the people around the living being chant the Divine Bhagawan name, it will act like a bridle and pull the mind back to the Ultimate Divine. If the life force leaves the body at this point, Bhagawan has to receive the soul into His keeping. This is what He has promised in Bhagawad Gita, irrespective of the fact whether the dying person had thought of Him during his life time or not. In whatever fashion a person had conducted himself during his lifetime, if he dies with the thought of Bhagawan in his mind, Bhagawan is bound to gather that soul unto Him.
