Jaya Jaya Sankara Hara Hara Sankara – Why Sri Periyava imposed this on himself one never knows…but a great nostalgic incident that bring tears to our eyes. Shri Chandramouli Mama vividly narrates these incidents in the following videos (6 min’s) below. Though the incident below describes Periyava was in exile for one year, in the video clip Shri Chandramouli Mama mentions two years.

காஞ்சி மகா பெரியவர் தங்கிய அறை -மகா பெரியவர் மனம் உறைந்திருக்கும் இடம்

ரிக்,யஜுர்,சாமவேத பாடசாலைகள் – ஜி. வைத்யநாதன்

81 வயதாகும் வைத்யநாதன் பணி ஓய்வுக்குப் பிறகு தன்னுடைய வாழ்நாளை பரமாச்சார்யரின் லட்சியமாக இருந்த பணிக்குத் தன்னை முழுமையாக அர்ப்பணித்துக் கொண்டுவிட்டார். ஆங்காங்கே நாம் பார்த்த காட்சிகளுக்கு விளக்கம் தந்தும், கேள்விகளுக்குப் பதில் அளித்தும் நம்முடைய பயணம் சிறக்க உதவி செய்தார்.

பிரம்மபுரீஸ்வரர் கோவில் அடுத்தது சிவஸ்தானம். அமைதியான கிராமச் சூழலில் அமைந்திருக்கிறது பிரம்மபுரீஸ்வரர் கோவில். நகர வாசனையே தீண்டாத இக்கோவில் பரமாச்சாரியாருக்கு மிகவும் பிடித்த இடங்களில் ஒன்று. பெரியவருடைய சாந்நித்தியம் இங்கே நிறைந்து இருக்கிறது. கடிகாரம் ஓடாததைப் போல காலம் இங்கே உறைந்து கிடக்கிறது.

“இதோ இந்த அறையில்தான் பெரியவர் ஒரு முழு ஆண்டு தொடர்ந்து தங்கியிருந்தார். அந்த ஓராண்டு காலத்தில் வெளியுலகம் எப்படி இருக்கிறது என்று ஸ்வாமிகள் பார்க்கவே இல்லை. மிகவும் அவசியமாக இருந்தால் மட்டுமே மற்றவர்களுடன் ஏதாவது ஒருவகையில் தொடர்பு கொள்வார்” என்றார்.

அந்த அறை அப்படியே இப்போதும் பராமரிக்கப்படுகிறது. அவருக்குத் தொண்டு புரிய அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களில் வைத்யநாதனும் ஒருவர். ஸ்வாமிகளின் மிகப்பெரிய புகைப்படமும் தூங்கா மணி விளக்கும் அவர் அங்கே தொடர்ந்து வாசம் செய்துகொண்டிருக்கும் தெய்வீக உணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தியது.

“அதோ சின்ன ஜன்னல் தெரிகிறதல்லவா, அதன் வழியாகத்தான் ஸ்வாமிகளுக்கு ஒரு கைப்பிடி அளவு மட்டுமே அவல் தரப்படும். ஆரம்ப காலத்தில் தர்ப்பைப்புல்லால் தரையை அவரே பெருக்குவார். நீங்கள் நீராடச் செல்லும்போது இந்தக் கைங்கரியத்தை நாங்கள் செய்கிறோம் என்று கெஞ்சுவோம். சில நாள்களில் அவர் வருவதற்குள் தரையைத் தூய்மைப்படுத்திவிட்டு சிட்டாகப் பறந்துவிடுவோம்” என்று பழைய நினைவுகளில் மூழ்கினார்.

பெரியவரின் அனுஷ்டானங்களுக்காகத் தண்ணீர் இறைக்கப்பட்ட கிணறு இன்றும் அப்படியே தூய்மை கெடாமல் பாதுகாக்கப்படுகிறது.

“அந்தக் கிணற்றுக்கு அந்தப் பக்கத்தில்தான் இந்திரா காந்தி நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தார்; ஸ்வாமிகள் அறை வாசலில் நின்றுகொண்டிருந்தார். அவர்கள் இருவரும் பேசிக்கொள்ளவில்லை. ஸ்வாமிகள் கையை உயர்த்தி அவருக்கு ஆசி வழங்கினார்.” என்று அந்த நாளை நினைவு கூர்ந்தார்.

அருகில் இருந்த கணபதி கோவிலை ஸ்வாமிகள் உள்ளிருந்தபடியே தரிசிக்க உதவிய ஜன்னல் இப்போது அலங்கரிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. கோபுர தரிசனத்தைப் பார்ப்பதற்காக அவருக்காக அமைக்கப்பட்ட மரப் படிகளும் இப்போதும் அதே இடத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. “ஒரு காலை மட்டும் மடித்துத் தூக்கிவைத்து இரு உள்ளங்கைகளையும் தலைமீது வைத்து, காமாட்சியம்மன் தவமிருந்ததைப் போலவே மகா ஸ்வாமிகளும் சில நேரங்களில் நின்று கொண்டிருப்பார்” என்றார்.

“ஏன்?”

“யாருக்குத் தெரியும்; மடத்தில் அவருக்கிருந்த மிகச் சில வசதிகளைக்கூட வேண்டாமென்று ஒதுக்கிவிட்டு ஓராண்டுக்காலம் அறையைவிட்டு வெளியே வராமல் தவமிருந்தது ஏன் என்பதும் அவருக்குத்தான் தெரியும்” என்ற பதில் வந்தது வைத்யநாதனிடமிருந்து. “இந்த இடத்தில் அப்போது ஏராளமான புதர்கள் மண்டிக் கிடந்தன. மனித நடமாட்டமே இருக்காது. ஒருநாள் அவர் ஆழ்ந்து தியானத்தில் இருந்தபோது பாம்பு ஒன்று அவருடைய தொடையில் ஏறி சுருண்டு படுத்திருப்பதைப் பார்த்து நாங்கள் பதறிப்போனோம். அந்த அறைக்குள் நாங்கள் போகக்கூடாது; அவரை எச்சரிக்கவும் வழியேதும் இல்லை. மூச்சுவிடக்கூட அஞ்சியபடியே நாங்கள் ஜன்னல் வழியாக அவரையே பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தோம்.அவர் கண்ணைத் திறந்து பார்த்தபோது, அவர் மடியில் பாம்பு ஒன்று படுத்திருப்பதை சன்னமான குரலில் தெரியப்படுத்தினோம். அவர் உடனே தன்னுடைய ஆடையை லேசாக உதறினார், பாம்பு ஊர்ந்து வெளியேறியது. பெரியவா எங்கள் பக்கம் திரும்பி, “அது நாலு நாளா எங்கிட்ட வர்றது, இதுக்கு என்னத்துக்கு ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் என்று மெல்லிய குரலில் முணுமுணுத்தார்” என்று பழைய நினைவில் மீண்டும் ஆழ்ந்தார் வைத்யநாதன்.

Shri. Vaidyanathan, aged 81 years, after his retirement  had wholly dedicated his life time towards the ambitious work of  His Holiness Paramacharya. He made our journey special by helping in providing explanations for the visuals we saw and by answering our questions.

He says…

Brahmabureeswarar Temple Next to Sivasthaanam.

” Brahmabureeswarar Temple is located in a calm, serene village atmosphere. This is one of the most favourite places of His Holiness due to it’s unpolluted nature from the City influences. Maha Periyava’s divinity is filled here. Time is frozen here as if the clock has stopped running.

Here… This is the room where Maha Periyava stayed for one whole year. During that one year period, Maha Periyava never noticed how the external world was… Only if there is an absolute necessity, he used to contact others in some manner or other “.

Even today, that room is being maintained as it was. Thiru. Vaidyanathan is one among those who were permitted to serve Maha Periyava. A massive photo of Swamigal and an ever lit precious lamp created the divine feeling of Maha Periyava’s continued presence at that place.

Shri. Vaidyanathan continues…

” Isn’t a small window seen there ?… Only through that window, a handful of Poha (aval) alone will be offered to Swamigal. During the initial period, he himself used to sweep the floor with dried holy grass ( dharbai). We used to plead to him saying… ‘ we shall do this service while you go for bathing ‘… On certain days… we will sweep and clean the floor and vanish like sparrows before he returns”… by saying these Shri. Vaidyanathan got immersed in old memories. The well from which water was drawn for Maha Periyava’s rituals is preserved in it’s purest form even today.

” The then Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi was standing on the other side of that well. They both didn’t communicate with each other. Swamigal raised his hand and blessed her “.   …..thus Shri.Vaidyanathan   recollected that day.

Shri.Vaidyanathan said…

” The window which helped Swamigal to worship  the nearby Ganapathy Temple from inside the room is kept decorated now. The wooden stairs made for him to have dharshan of the Temple Tower ( Gopuram ) is kept in the same place even now.

Sometimes Maha Swamigal too used to stand in a similar way to the stance of Goddess Kamatchi Amman’s penance, by keeping only one of the legs folded and having both the palms on his head “.

… Why was this ?

” Who knows !!!  ….only he will know what the penance was for, without coming out of the room for one whole year and rejecting even the very few comforts available at the Sri Matam “…

… came the reply from Thiru. Vaidyanathan.

“This place was densely filled with shrubs, bushes… No human presence could be seen around… One day… We were shocked and felt desperate to see a snake lying coiled on his thigh when he was in deep meditation. We were not supposed to enter the room. There was no way we could caution him also. We were closely watching him with bated breath. When he opened his eyes… we whispered in a feeble voice that a snake is lying on his lap. He immediately shook his dress mildly. The snake crawled and exited.

MahaPeriyava turned towards us and said…

“It is coming to me for the past four days…what is all this fuss for…” he whispered…

…. Shri. Vaidyanathan  got immersed again into old memories.
