  4. Hara Hara sankara, Jaya Jaya Sankara, The village EECHANGUDI near sri Ganapathi Agraharam hasd the fortune to be the birth place of Sri Maha Periyava. The village is still vibrant with two veda padasalis one uner the auspicious of Sri Sanakara Mutt and another private veda patasala by ae eminent vedic scholar .Veda ghosham reverberates in the village..A calm and serene village which one should visit to have a glimpse of the sacred village. Janakiraman Nagapattinam

    • Sir – Villupuram Sankara Mutt has been mentioned as Avathara Stalam of Shri Kanchi Maha Periyava. You have mentioned as Eechangudi.. Are there different set of information on this?

      • In Sri Maha Periyava Divya Charitham by Sri Ganesa Sarma Vizhuppuram has been mentioned as the avatara sthalam of Maha Periyava. Ram Ram

      • One would expect Echangudi to the place of birth for Sri Mahaperiyava as that village was mother’s parents house. Typically for delivery, women go to her parent’s house.

Sri Sivan Sir was born in Echangudi for sure. However, Sri Mahaperiyava was supposed to have been born in Villupuram. That has been maintained that way for a long time. The question was posed to His Holiness Himself at a much later age. If I remember correctly, He did not confirm one way or another, but talked about this topic at length and left it open-ended. His relatives were the ones who even told earlier about Villupuram.

      • Mahaperiyava’s Avathara Sthalam is Villupuram….His mother’s Avathara Sthalam is Eachengudi., now it is a Vedapadasa.
