Come, let’s both clean the vessels!
On one particular day, the responsibility of cleaning these vessels fell on a person by name, Mappillai Ramamurthi, who settled down to go about his hard task. Suddenly he saw Periyava so he stood up in regard. Periyava inquired, “so many vessels, are you going to clean them all by yourself?” Ramamurthi replied, “Yes, Periyava, but it is alright since I consider this as a blessing.”
Appreciating Ramamurthi’s devotion, Periyava said, “very good, but it’s a tough and time-consuming job, hence you will not be able to eat your lunch in time. So let me do one thing, I will try to help you. Here, I will give you a hand and let’s both clean the vessels, and complete the work quickly.” Ramamurthi was shocked at this and said, “No, no, Periyava should not perform such things; Periyava should rather go and take some rest.” Periyava then said, “Why? Why should I not do these things, am I also not a kinkara to Srimad Chandramoulishwara? It’s my great fortune, too, to do this work. Come, let’s not waste any more time and get started now!”
Ramamurthi had no words to reply; he quietly submitted to Periyava’s instruction and as he cleaned the vessels, Periyava would wash them and lay them out to dry.
Where else can we see such devotion! The shastras proclaim that our most dearest is we ourselves since the true connection is with the Atman, and not to anyone or anywhere outside. Only because Periyava was Srimad Chandramoulishwara incarnate, He demonstrated such devotion towards His true Self!

Maha Periyava Teaches us Karma Yoga in the Service of God! Hara Hara Shankara, Jaya Jaya Shankara!
I don’t understand as to why someone should get doubt on the incident as Maha Periva is Karuna Sagarm by nature, hence extending helping hand is not a big deal for Him. We rather busy in authenticating the story than putting interest in message that is apparent in the incident.
Pl. don’t discuss much on this, let’s put full stop here.

Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara.Sri Maha Periyava could have asked somebody to assist but instead has taken the job himself out of compassion and to demonstrate that he is also one with him to assist him in his daily chorus. Apara Karunai manifests. Janakiraman. Nagapattinam.
Really dont know how authentic these accounts are. Everyday newer and newer stories are generated from these 4 or 5 sources.
While reinforcing the bhakti towards the Great Jagadguru, these stories from these speakers/writers also need to be validated from authentic sources.

You are absolutely correct Sri Venkat.
From purely devotional point these anecdotes keep us in high spirit.
But how genuine they are, we do not know.
Further some writers (and some TV upanyasakars too) narrate incidents, which are true no doubt, but the way they present looks artificial (un-Periyavaa like).
Their narration of Mahaperiyavaa’s activities (idi idi ena sirithaar) appears very unnatural.
But this story has a great lesson for all of us, lay devotees.
If the Parama Purusha Himself can wash the utensils, what job could be demeaning for al of us (especially men-folks)
Mahaperiyavaa has taught us a good lesson to follow.
Sir, while I agree there could be some accounts that may be exaggerated, I can vouch that this is not necessarily one of them. Also, very well knowing Periyava’s personality, this can be ascertained to be valid. Furthermore, what gains do we get by doubting or negating the authenticity of such incidents or the writers/speakers without even ascertaining about their backgrounds. Do you know the background of the narrator here who is Ganesha Sharma? Do you know about the association he has had with the Srimatam and with Mahaperiyava? Without knowing any of these details, it is completely wrong to comment. If something is agreeable to you, please appreciate, and if something is not agreeable to you, just let it be. especially if it is not harmful in any way, and also capable of teaching a moral to the readers,
