மோக்ஷ பர்யந்தம்

பல வர்ஷங்களுக்கு முன்னால், ஒருமுறை நல்ல பனிக்காலம். பெரியவாளின் உதடுகள் ஒரே வெடிப்பாக வெடித்திருந்தது. பேசக்கூட முடியாமல் வேதனை இருந்தாலும் எதுவுமே காட்டிக்கொள்ளாமல் எப்போதும் போல வருபவர்களிடம் பேசிக் கொண்டிருந்தார். அம்மாதிரி உதடு வெடிக்கும்போது, அடிக்கடி வெண்ணை தடவிக் கொண்டே இருந்தால்,வெடிப்பு சரியாகிவிடும். ஆனால், பெரியவா கடைகளில் விற்கும் வெண்ணையை தடவிக் கொள்ள மாட்டார். என்ன பண்ணுவது?

ஒரு பாட்டி ரொம்ப அக்கறையோடு ஐந்து சேர் பசும்பால் வாங்கி, காய்ச்சி, உறைக்குத்தி தயிராக்கி அதை கடைந்து வெண்ணை எடுத்து, கொண்டுவந்து பெரியவாளிடம் குடுத்தாள்.

“பெரியவா…….ஒதடு ரொம்ப பாளம் பாளமா வெடிச்சிருக்கு. ரொம்ப மடியா வெண்ணை கடைஞ்சு எடுத்துண்டு வந்திருக்கேன்…பெரியவா ஒதட்டுல தடவிக்கணும்”..என்று வினயத்தோடு ப்ரார்த்தனை பண்ணிக்கொண்டாள்.

பெரியவாளுக்கு வெண்ணையை கண்டதுமே தான் த்வாபர யுகத்தில் அடித்த கூத்து ஞாபகம் வந்துவிடுமாதலால், ரொம்ப சந்தோஷப்பட்டார். பெரியவா மட்டும் சந்தோஷப்படவில்லை…….இன்னொரு ஜோடிக் கண்களும் அந்த வெண்ணையை காதலோடு பார்த்தன!

அப்போது தர்சனத்துக்கு வந்திருந்த ஒரு சின்னக் குழந்தை ஓடிவந்து பெரியவாளிடம் வெண்ணைக்காக குஞ்சுக்கையை நீட்டியது! சாக்ஷாத் பால கோபாலனே கேட்டது போல் அங்கிருந்தவர்களுக்கு தோன்றியது. கேட்காமலேயே மோக்ஷபர்யந்தம் [தன்னையே] குடுத்துவிடும் அந்த மஹா மஹா மாதா அப்படியே அத்தனை வெண்ணையையும் தூக்கி அந்த குழந்தையிடம் குடுத்துவிட்டார்!

இதைப் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்த பாரிஷதர்களுக்கு கொஞ்சம் முகம் சுருங்கியது! “ரொம்ப சரி…கொழந்தை கேட்டா, ஏதோ ஒரு எலுமிச்சங்காய் சைஸில் உருட்டிக் குடுத்தா போறாதா என்ன? அப்டியே டப்பாவோடயா தூக்கி குடுக்கணும்?.. இப்போ ஒதட்டுல தடவிக்க ஏது வெண்ணை?..”

அவர்கள் உள்ளத்துக்குள் ஓடிய எண்ணங்களுக்கு பதில் வந்தது……..

“ஏண்டா, முகம் தொங்கிப் போச்சு? கொழந்தை சாப்ட்டாலே என்னோட ஓதட்டு புண் செரியாப் போய்டும்…” சிரித்தார்.

அன்று சாயங்காலமே, பெரியவாளுடைய உதட்டில் எல்லா பாளம் பாளமான வெடிப்பும் சுத்தமாக போய்விட்டிருந்தது! வெண்ணை கேட்ட பாலகோபாலன் அதை சாப்பிட்டுவிட்டான் போலிருக்கிறது!
சரீரம் எதுவானால் என்ன? உள்ளிருக்கும் ஆத்மா ஒன்றுதானே?

Moksha Paryantham!

Many years ago, during winter. Sri Periyava’s lips were dry and cracked completely. It hurt while speaking but he never showed it and continued to speak to the devotees who came to have his darshan.

When lips dry and crack, applying butter frequently will smoothen the skin and heal the crack. This is a traditional remedy.

But Periyava will never ever apply butter sold in the shop. What to do?

A concerned old lady, bought 5 seers (1 seer is equal to 933.10 grams) of cow’s milk boiled it, curdled it and churned it to fine butter. She offered this to Periyava saying, Periyava’s lips are cracked, dry and sore. I have churned this butter by following all the madi rituals.

“Periyava has to apply the butter to his lips” – prayed the old lady.

Once Periyava saw the butter, it reminded him of his dwapara yuga mischief and was ecstatic!

This excitement wasn’t confined to Periyava solely, but another pair of eyes were equally excited to see the butter.

At that time, a young boy who was present to have Maha Periyava’s darshan came running and extended his little hand towards Periyava seeking some butter.

It looked like as though baal gopal had arrived asking for some butter.

Sri Periyava being maha, maha, maha matha who grants people Moksha even without them asking, gave the entire jar of butter to the child.

People watching this were a tad unhappy, as they thought – “just because the child asked, Periyava should have given a lemon sized butter chip rather than the entire jar”. Now, where is the butter to apply for his lips?

The benevolent Periyava smilingly answered their inner thought thus – “Why are you all dull? If the child eats the butter the cracks on my lips will heal by itself”.

That evening, Periyava’s cracked lips retained its smoothness and were healed. It looks like baal gopal had the butter.

THE BODY MAY BE DIFFERENT BUT THE ATMA REMAINS THE SAME!
