தானம் பண்ணிவிட்டு நாம் நம் பெயரைப் பேப்பரில் போட்டுக் கொள்ளாமல் இருக்கலாம். ஆனாலும், ‘எப்படியாவது நாலு பேருக்கு நாம் தானம் பண்ணினதை நைஸாகத் தெரியப்படுத்த வேண்டும்’ என்கிற எண்ணம் உள்ளூர இருந்தால் அதுவும் தோஷம்தான். அந்த நாலுபேர் நாம் தானம் பண்ணினதற்காக ஒரு பங்கு கொண்டாடினால், அதோடு, “பண்ணின தானத்தை வெளியிலேயே தெரிவிக்காமல் எத்தனை உத்தமமான குணம்!” என்று பத்து பங்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம் பண்ணுவார்கள். மனஸுக்குள் நாம் இந்த ஸ்தோத்திரத்துக்கு ஆசைப்பட்டுவிட்டால், பேப்பரில் போட்டுக் கொள்வதைவிட இதுவே பெரிய தோஷமாகிவிடும். ஆனாலும் இப்படியெல்லாம் ஆசை, கீசை தலை தூக்கிக் கொண்டுதானே இருக்கிறது? அது தலையைத் தூக்கவொட்டாமல் அழுத்தி வைக்க என்ன பண்ணலாம்? ஒன்று பண்ணலாம் என்று தோன்றுகிறது. அதாவது, ‘தானம் வாங்குகிறவன் நமக்கு அந்நியன் இல்லை; நம்மவனேதான்’ என்ற உணர்ச்சியை நன்றாக வளர்த்துக் கொண்டு விட்டால் கொடுத்ததை வெளியில் சொல்லவே தோன்றாது. நம் குழந்தைக்கு அல்லது நெருங்கிய பந்துக்களுக்கு நாம் ஏதாவது செய்தால் அதை வெளியில் விளம்பரம் செய்து கொள்வோமா? அதே மாதிரிதான் எவரும் நமக்கு பந்துதான். ஸகல ஜந்துக்களும் ஒரே பார்வதி பரமேஸ்வராளின் குழந்தைகள்தான். அதனால் நாம் ‘தானம் கொடுக்கிறோம்’ என்ற வார்த்தையைச் சொல்வதுகூடத் தப்புதான். ‘பகவான் நம்மைக் கொடுக்கும்படி வைத்தான். கொடுத்தோம்’ என்று அடங்கி, பவ்யமாகக் கொடுக்க வேண்டும். எங்கே இதிலும் ஓர் அஹங்காரம் வந்துவிடுமோ என்று பயந்து கொண்டு கொடுக்க வேண்டும். “பியா தேயம்” என்கிறது உபநிஷதம். ”பியா” என்றால், ‘பயந்துகொண்டு’ என்று அர்த்தம். ஸாதாரணமாக, வாங்குகிறவன்தான் பயந்து கொண்டு நிற்பான்; கொடுக்கிறவன் அதட்டிக்கொண்டு கொடுப்பான். வாஸ்தவத்தில் கொடுக்கிறவன்தான் பயப்பட வேண்டும் என்கிறது உபநிஷத். கடைசியாக, ‘ஞானத்தோடு’ கொடுக்க வேண்டும் என்று முடிக்கிறது. ‘ஸம்வித்துடன் என்று சொல்கிறது. ‘ஸம்வித்’ என்றால் ‘நிறைந்த ஞானம்’ கொடுக்கிறவன், வாங்கிக் கொள்கிறவன் இரண்டு பேர்வழிகளும் வாஸ்தவத்தில் ஒருவனேதான் என்ற அறிவுதான் அந்த ‘ஸம்வித்’. .-ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

We may not publicise our names in newspapers after performing charity. But we may somehow like at least a few persons to know about our act of benevolence.These few persons will not only praise us for our charity but also for not seeking publicity for the same. If we really desire for this praise, in our heart of hearts, it will become a great sin on our part. But such desires do creep into our hearts. How to get rid off them? We should consider all those who receive charity from us as our own. We will definitely not publicise what we do ro our own kith and kin. Similarly, all of us are the children of the divine parents, Parvathi and Parameswara. So even the use of the word charity is wrong.We should humbly realize that god gave us an opportunity to give and we gave. We should be careful about not succumbing to arrogance. Upanishad states “Piyaa Dheyam”.  “Piyaa” means fear.  Generally the giver always shows his power and the receiver is always scared. But Upanishad states that only the giver should be scared. Lastly, the holy book also says that we should give with Wisdom or Gnana. It says to give with “Samvith”. “Samvith” means absolute knowledge.
