தர்ப்பணம், திவஸம் இவற்றின் பலன் நரகலோகம் தவிர மற்ற லோகங்களில் உள்ளவர்களையே சேரும். ஒரு தேசத்துக்கும் இன்னொரு தேசத்துக்கும் சண்டை ஏற்பட்டுவிட்டால், அப்போது பணம் எக்ஸ்சேஞ்ச் பண்ணி எதிரி தேசத்துக்கு அனுப்பவே முடிவதில்லையல்லவா? இப்படி நரகவாஸிகளுக்காகப் பித்ரு தேவதைகள் ஆஹார எக்ஸ்சேஞ்ச் பண்ணுவதில்லை.

இப்படிப்பட்ட நரகவாஸிகளான மஹா பாபிகளிடமும் நம்முடைய ரிஷிகளுக்கு மனஸ் உருகி, அவர்களுக்கும் க்ஷேமம் உண்டாக்குவதற்காக மந்த்ர பூர்வமாக சில வஸ்துக்களைக் கொடுக்கச் சொல்லி ஏற்பாடு பண்ணியிருக்கிறார்கள். சுத்தமான வஸ்துக்களை அவர்களுக்கு நாம் சேர்க்க முடியாது. ஆனால் சில அசுத்த வஸ்துக்களே அவர்களுடைய மஹா கஷ்ட நிலையில் ஆஹாரமாக அவர்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கலாம் என்று பகவான் வைத்திருக்கிறான். நாம் வேஷ்டியை பிழிகிற அழுக்கு ஜலம், குளிக்கிறபோது நம் சிகை வழியாக வருகிற ஜலம் இவை எல்லாம் நரகத்திலுள்ளவர்களுக்கு ஆஹாரமாக மாறி, அவர்களுடைய மஹா கஷ்டத்தில் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சம் ஸுகம் தருகின்றன. அவர்களை உத்தேசித்து நாம் அன்பான பாவனையோடு துணியைப் பிழிந்தால், குடுமி ஜலத்தைப் பிழிந்தால், இந்தப் பலன் அவர்களுக்குக் கிடைக்கும். மந்த்ரமும் சொல்லி இந்தக் காரியங்களைச் செய்ய அதிகாரம் பெற்றவர்கள் அப்படியே செய்ய வேண்டும். சாப்பிட்டு முடிந்தபின் எச்சில் கை ஜலத்தை இலைக்கு வலது பக்கத்தில் மந்த்ரம் சொல்லி விட்டால் அது நரகங்களிலேயே ரொம்பக் கொடூரமாக ரௌரவத்தில் எத்தனையோ கோடி வருஷங்களாக இருப்பவர்களின் தாஹத்தை தீர்க்க உத்வுகிறது. ஆந்திரர்கள் உத்தராபோஜனத்துக்குப் பின் இதைத் தவறாமல் பண்ணுகிறார்கள். இப்படி எச்சிலையும், அழுக்கு ஜலத்தையும் ஒருவருக்குத் தருவதா என்று நினைக்க வேண்டாம். நரக வாஸத்தில் அவர்கள் இருக்கிற ஸ்திதியில் இதுவேதான் அவர்களுக்குப் பிடித்தமானதாக இருக்கும். நம் லோகத்திலேயே வராஹத்தைப் பார்க்கவில்லையா? கரப்பான்பூச்சி முதலானவை அழுக்குகளையே தின்னவில்லையா?

நாம் பண்ணும் பாபத்தையெல்லாம் எத்தனையோ கருணையோடு மன்னிக்கும் பகவான் இப்படி ஒருத்தரை ரௌரவத்தில் போட்டு வதைக்கிறான் என்றால் அவர்கள் செய்திருக்கிற பாபம் ரொம்பவும் பயங்கரமாயிருந்திருக்க வேண்டும். அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களுக்குங்கூட தாஹம் தீரட்டும், தாபம் தணியட்டும் என்று நினைத்து அதற்கான வழியைச் சொல்கிறது. நம் தர்ம சாஸ்த்ரம்.

பௌத்த மதம், கிறிஸ்தவ மதம் மாதிரி நம் மதத்தில் ஜீவகாருண்யத்துக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் தரவில்லை என்று தப்பாக நினைக்கிறவர்கள் இதையெல்லாம் கவனிக்க வேண்டும். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

The fruits of the ancestral rituals we perform like devasam and tharppanam do not reach the ancestors who are confined to hell. When there are strained relations between two countries, financial exchange is not permitted. Similarly, the pithru devathas do not carry the necessary food to these people, who are wallowing in hell. But our rishis have taken compassion on even these beings and have prescribed certain kinds of foods to be offered to them. Pure foods cannot be givcn to these sinned beings. Hence some unclean things are permitted to be given as offerings to these beings.

The dirty water which flows when we wring our dhotis and the water which flows through our hair when we are having bath are a few of the unclean things which get converted into food for these beings who are suffering in hell and give them some relief. Those of us who are entitled to chant manthras while performing these acts should do so.After having our food, if the water is sprinkled on the right side of the leaf with the unwashed hand, it can quench the thirst of the beings who are confined to the horrifying hell called Rowravam, for crores of years. Andhra people perform these scrupulously after uththara Bhojanam. We may wonder whether it is right to offer such unclean things to anybody. But in the hellish life they are leading, these may be the things which appeal to them. In our own world, do we not see pigs and cockroaches hankering after unclean things?

If God, who with extraordinary compassion forgives most of our sins, has committed these people to Rowravam-the worst kind of hell- then it must be because their sins have been unforgivable. But, our Scriptures have prescribed ways and means of satiating the hunger and thirst of even such people.

So, people who criticize that our Hindu religion is not as compassionate as Budhdhism or Christianity, must take note of these aspects of our Scriptures. – Jagadguru Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Swamigal
