பெரியவாளோட பாதரக்ஷையை ஒரு தடவையாவது ஸ்பர்சிக்கற பாக்யம் கெடைச்சா…

போளூர் சுப்ரமண்ய ஐயர், சத்யம் தவறாதவர், போஸ்ட் மாஸ்டராக பணி புரிந்து வந்தவர், சிகை வைத்துக் கொண்டு த்ரிகால சந்த்யாவந்தனம் செய்பவர்.

பெரியவாளிடம் அபார பக்தி! உண்மையான பக்தனை பகவான் தேடிக் கொண்டு போவான்.

அது போல், பெரியவா கலசப்பாக்கத்தில் முகாம்! சுப்ரமண்ய ஐயர் பெரியவாளை தர்சனம் பண்ண வந்தபோது, பெரியவா அங்கிருந்த ஈஸ்வரன் கோவிலுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப் போயிருந்தார். எனவே ஐயரும் விடுவிடென்று பெரியவா போன வழியில் ஈஸ்வரன் கோவில் போனார். கொஞ்ச தொலைவில் பெரியவா போய்க் கொண்டிருப்பது தெரிந்தது. அப்போது ஐயரின் பார்வையில் பெரியவாளின் திருவடியும், பாதரக்ஷையும் விழுந்தது.

“பெரியவாளோட பாதரக்ஷையை ஒரு தடவையாவது ஸ்பர்சிக்கற பாக்யம் கெடைச்சா…இந்த ஜன்மா மட்டுமில்லே, இனிமே ஜென்மாவே இல்லாமப் பண்ணிடுமே!…” என்று மனஸ் அடித்துக் கொண்டது. குருவின் பாதுகையின் மஹிமையை குருவால் கூட விளக்க முடியாதே! கடவுளுக்கும் மேலான ஒன்று நம்பிக்கை என்றால், குருவிற்கும் மேலானது குருபாதம், குருபாதுகை!

பெரியவா, கோவில் முன்னால் நின்று கொண்டு சுற்றும் முற்றும் பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார். ஐயர் ஓடிப்போய் கூட்டத்தில் சேர்ந்து கொண்டு விட்டார். பெரியவா பாதுகையை பத்ரமா யாராவது வெச்சுக்கணுமே என்று அவர் மனஸ் கவலைப்பட்டது.

“இரு, இரு, ஒனக்காகத்தானே இன்னிக்கி நான் கோவிலுக்கே வந்திருக்கேன் ” என்பது போல் பெரியவா…..

“நா…..கோவிலுக்குள்ள போயிட்டு வர்ற வரைக்கும்…என் பாதரக்ஷையை யாராவுது வெச்சுண்டு இருப்பாளா?..”

சுற்றி இருந்தவர்கள் தங்களுக்கு அந்த பாக்யம் கிடைக்குமா என்று ஆவலோடு பார்த்தனர்.

“சிகை வெச்சிண்டு இருக்கறவா, யாரவுது இங்க இருந்தா…..அவா இந்த பாதரக்ஷையை வெச்சுக்கலாம்!”

அங்கிருந்தவர்களில் சுப்ரமண்ய ஐயர்தான் பாரிஷதர்களைத் தவிர சிகை வைத்திருந்தவர். பரதனுக்கு கிடைத்த பெரும் பேற்றை ராமாயணத்தில் படித்திருப்போம்…இன்று அந்த நிலையில் ஐயர் இருந்தார்.

கண்கள் குளமாக, ஜகத்குருவின் பாதுகையை நடுங்கும் கைகளில் ஏந்தி, பன்முறை கண்களில் ஒற்றிக் கொண்டு, சிரஸில் வைத்துக் கொண்டு, பெரியவாளின் கருணையை எண்ணி எண்ணி உருகிப் போனார்.

பெரியவாளோடு அத்தனை பேரும் கோவிலுக்குள் சென்று விட்டனர். ஐயர் மட்டும் பாதுகையோடு கோவில் வாசலில் ஆனந்தமாக நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார். பக்தனுடைய ஆசை, பகவான் விஷயத்தில் “போதும்” என்று வராது, த்வைத பாவம் இருக்கும் வரையில்! ஐயர் மனம் “பாதுகையை வெச்சிண்டு இருக்கறது பரமானந்தம்தான்! ஆனாலும், பெரியவாளோட கோவிலுக்குள்ள போய் தர்சனம் பண்ண முடியலியே!..” என்று ஏங்கியது!

உள்ளே பெரியவாளுக்கு மரியாதை பண்ணிவிட்டு, ஸ்வாமிக்கு தீபாராதனை காட்ட தயார் பண்ணினார் அர்ச்சகர். அவரைக் கையமர்த்திவிட்டு பெரியவா தன்னுடைய பாரிஷதர் ஒருவரிடம் “வெளில பாதுகையை வெச்சிண்டு ஒர்த்தர் நின்னுண்டு இருப்பார்….நீ போய் அதை வாங்கிண்டு, அவரை உள்ளே அனுப்பு!” என்று சொன்னார்.

பாரிஷதர் வந்து பாதுகையை வாங்கிக்கொண்டு ஐயரை உள்ளே அனுப்பினார்.

இதோ! அவருடைய இரண்டாவது ஆசையும் இங்கே அமோகமாக நிறைவேறியது! கர்ப்பக்ருஹத்துள் குத்து விளக்குகள் ப்ரகாசமாக ஒளி விட, பரமேஸ்வரன் லிங்க ரூபமாக நாகாபரணம்
சூடி, உச்சியில் வில்வ மாலை தரித்து, ஆவுடையாரைச் சுற்றிய மயில்கண் வேஷ்டியும், மேலிருந்து அருவி போல் விழும் அங்கவஸ்த்ரமுமாக காட்சி அளிக்க, பக்கத்தில் உத்சவ மூர்த்தியாக பெரியவா நிற்க, அந்த அர்ச்சகர் தீபாராதனை காட்டினார், இருவருக்கும்!

அதே போல், அம்பாள் சன்னதியிலும் அதே அனுபவத்தைப் பெற்றார் சுப்ரமண்ய ஐயர்!

Polur Sri Subramania Iyer desired to touch Mahaperiyava’s Padhuka (traditional asian clog) at least once in his lifetime.  Sri Subramania Iyer is a very honest person who worked as post-master.  He had a traditional Brahmin hairstyle (sports tuft/kudumi) and does “Sandhyavandhanam” three times every day.

He is a great devotee of Maha Periyava! For a true believer, God comes in search of devotee.  Indeed true to this saying, Mahaperiyava had a camp at a district of kalashpakkam.  When Subramania Iyer went to pay a respectful visit to Mahaperiyava, Mahaperiyava was on his way to Eswaran (Lord Shiva) Temple.  When Subramania Iyer realized this, he also hurriedly left for the Eswaran (Lord Shiva) Temple along the same path taken by Mahaperiyava.  As he went in that direction, he could see Mahaperiyava walking towards to the temple at a distance.  At the same time, Subramania Iyer’s sight fell on Mahaperiyava’s feet and on his Paduka (traditional asian clog).

Subramania Iyer thought to himself, “Atleast once if I am able to touch Mahaperiyava’s Paduka (traditional asian clog).not only this birth, but I will not have any other future births”.

Mahaperiyava stopped outside the temple and looked around.  Subramania Iyer ran and joined the crowd.  Subramania Iyer anxiously thought to himself that someone should watch Mahaperiyava traditional asian clog (paduka) carefully.  As if Mahaperiyava had come to visit Eswaran temple for the sake of him (Subramania Iyer) that day.

Mahaperiyava addressed the crowd and asked the question “Can anyone take care of my Paduka (traditional asian clog) till I have visited inside of the temple?”  Upon hearing this, everyone in the crowd (around Mahaperiyava) was eager as to who will get this good fortune.  Mahaperiyava continuing to address the crowd said: “If a person with a traditional Brahmin hairstyle (with kudumi/tuft) is present in this crowd, he may come forward for this purpose”.

Among all the persons present in the crowd, Subramania Iyer alone (except for Mahaperiyava’s personal helpers) had the traditional Brahmin hair-style.  We have read in Ramayana that Bharatha (Rama’s Brother) who got the great fortune, similarly that day Subramania Iyer had the same fortune of Bharatha.

With trembling hands and tear-filled eyes, Subramania Iyer took the Paduka in his hands.  He touched the Paduka repeatedly with his eyes and then he kept Paduka on his head.  By recapping Mahaperiyava’s kindness, Subramania Iyer melted.

In the meantime, rest of the crowd along with Mahaperiyava went into the temple leaving Subramania Iyer outside the temple.  Subramania Iyer was standing outside the temple joyfully.  In general, for a Devotee the word “enough” does not exist with respect to God.  Indeed, in case of Subramania Iyer, he started to think that having the Paduka of Mahaperiyava was really Joyful, however I am not able to see Eswaran (Lord Shiva) by going into the temple along with Mahaperiyava (like rest of the crowd).

Meanwhile, inside the temple after paying respects to Mahaperiyava, the local priest was about to perform Lamp-worship to Lord Shiva.  When the priest was stopped and Mahaperiyava sent one of his personal followers (parishadhar) by telling him, “There is a person who is standing outside the temple with my paduka, you take the same and send him inside”.

As instructed the personal followers (parishadhar), came out and took the paduka from Subramania Iyer and he sent him (Subramania Iyer) inside the temple.

Now instantly, Subramania Iyer’s second desire immediately got fulfilled!  In the inner sanctum, the oil lamp brightly shone, Lord Shiva in the form “Lingam” wreathed in snake ornament, wearing garland of Indian bael leafs on the crown of head. The Dhothi around Lingam dropping like a water-fall and next to the Lingam stood Mahaperiyava.  The priest performed Lamp-worship for both. Subramania Iyer received a similar experience at the inner sanctum of Godess Ambal also.
