இந்த உலகத்தை எல்லாம் படைக்கிறவன் யார்? நமக்கெல்லாம் இவ்வளவு அன்ன, வஸ்திர, சௌக்கியங்களைக் கொடுக்கிறவன் யார்? அருட்கடலாக இருப்பவன் யார்? அவனைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ள வேண்டும் என்று நாம் விரும்பினால் நம்முடைய சித்தத்தை அழுக்கு இல்லாமல் ஆடாமல் வைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும். தாமிரச் செம்பு கிணற்றில் பத்து வருஷங்கள் கிடந்து விட்டது என்றால் அதை எத்தனை தேய்த்தாக வேண்டும்? எவ்வளவுக்கு எவ்வளவு தேய்க்கிறோமோ, அவ்வளவுக்கவ்வளவு அது வெளுக்கிறது. சுத்தமாகிறது. இவ்வளவு வருஷ காலம் எத்தனை கெட்ட காரியங்களைச் செய்து நம்முடைய சித்தத்தில் அழுக்கை ஏற்றிக் கொண்டு விட்டோமோ, அந்த அழுக்கைப் போக்க அத்தனை நல்ல காரியங்களைச் செய்து தேய்க்க வேண்டும். நல்ல கர்மாநுஷ்டானங்களைச் செய்ய வேண்டும். அதனால் சித்த சுத்தி வரும். நல்ல சீலங்கள் உண்டாகும். சரி, இன்றைக்குச் செம்பைத் தேய்த்து வெள்ளை வெளேர் என்று ஆக்கி விட்டோம் என்றால் சரியாகி விட்டதா? நாளைக்கு அதற்கு மறுநாள் என்று மறுபடியும் அதைத் தேய்க்காமலிருந்தால் என்ன ஆகும்? மறுபடியும் அழுக்காகிறது. இதே போல் நம் சித்தத்தையும் விடாமல் அநுஷ்டானத்தால் சுத்தம் செய்து கொண்டேயிருக்க வேண்டும். அப்புறம் ஒரு நிலை வந்துவிட்ட பின்தான் இந்தச் சித்தம் என்பதே ஓடிப் போய்விடும். ஆத்மா மட்டும் நிற்கும். சித்தமே இல்லாத அப்போதுதான் அதை சுத்தம் செய்கிற காரியமும் இல்லாமல் ஆகும். அதுவரை இந்தச் சுத்தப்படுத்துகிற காரியத்தைச் செய்து சீலங்களை வளர்த்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டியதே. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

Who created this world? Who gives us food, clothing, and comforts? Who is an ocean of grace? If we wish to know who it is we must keep our mind steady and free from impurities. Suppose a copper vessel has remained immersed in a well (inside water) for ten years or so. How much rubbing will it have to take before it becomes clean? The more we rub it, the cleaner and brighter it will be. If our mind has been made impure with evil actions over many years it can be made chaste only by the performance of many good deeds and many good-works. Is it enough to keep the copper vessel clean for today? What will happen to it tomorrow or the day after? It will become dirty again if it is not rubbed and cleaned. Similarly, we must keep our mind ever pure by the daily performance of good works. In due course, a time will come when the Chitta (mind), the consciousness, will vanish and Self alone will remain. Thereafter, no cleansing is required. Until then we have to keep our mind pure through good actions and good conduct. – Pujya Sri Kanchi Maha Periyava.
