ஒரு வீட்டைப் பார்த்தால் அதைக் கட்டியவன் ஒருவன் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஊகிக்கிறோம். இன்ன எஞ்சினீயர் கட்டினார் என அறிகிறோம். ஒரு வண்டியைப் பார்த்தால் அதைச் செய்த ஒருவன் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஊகிக்கிறோம். விசாரித்துப் பார்த்தால் இன்ன தச்சன் செய்தான் என்று அறிகிறோம். ஒரு வீடு அல்லது ஒரு வண்டி என்றால் அதில் பல விஷயங்கள் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று இசைவாக சேர்ந்து அமைந்திருக்கின்றன. ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட பிரயோஜனத்தை உத்தேசித்து அவை இவ்வாறு உருவாகியிருப்பது தெரிகிறது. எனவே, ‘இந்த வீடு, இந்த வண்டி ஏதோ தானாகவே அகஸ்மாத்தாக (accidental) உண்டாகிவிடவில்லை; இதை உத்தேசத்தோடு ஓர் அறிவே செய்திருக்கிறது’ என்று ஊகிக்கிறோம். ஒரு ஒழுங்குக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டுப் பல வஸ்துக்களைப் சேர்த்து உண்டாக்கியிருக்கிற எதைப் பார்த்தாலும் அதைச் செய்தவன் ஒருவன் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று ஊகிக்கிறோம்.அப்படியானால் எத்தனையோ ஒழுங்குகளுக்குக் கட்டுப்பட்டிருக்கும் இந்தப் பிரபஞ்சத்தைச் செய்தவனாக ஒருவன் இருக்கத்தானே வேண்டும்? எத்தனையோ வேறு வேறு விதமான வஸ்துக்களைப் பலவிதங்களில் சேர்த்து வைத்து, பலவிதமான பிரயோஜனங்களை உண்டாக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கிற இயற்கையை, லோக வாழ்க்கையைப் பார்க்கிறபோது, இவைகளை எல்லாம் இந்த உத்தேசத்துக்காகவே உண்டாக்கி, இவற்றை நடத்தி வருகிற ஒரு மகா பெரிய சக்தி இருக்கத்தான் வேண்டும் என்று தெரிகிறது.

நாம் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கும் இந்தக் கொட்டகையை யார் போட்டார்கள் என்றால் சொல்லத் தெரிகிறது. இந்த வாழை மரத்தை யார் செய்தார்கள்? கண்ணில் காட்டும்படியாக அதைச் செய்தவனைச் சொல்லத் தெரியவில்லை. ஆனாலும் ஒருவன் அதைச் செய்திருக்கிறான். அதனால்தான் இப்படி பட்டை பட்டையாகக் கணக்குப் பிசகாமல் உள்ளுக்குள்ளே அடுக்கிக்கொண்டே இந்த வாழை உண்டாகியிருக்கிறது. எந்த ஆயுதத்தை வைத்துக் கொண்டு அந்த ஒருவன் இத்தனை அழகாகப் பட்டைகளை அடுக்கினான் என்றால் தெரியவில்லை. இப்படியே அந்த மலையை, இதோ மேலே உள்ள நக்ஷத்திரங்களை, சந்திரனைச் செய்தவனை நம்மால் காட்ட முடியவில்லை. இவையெல்லாம் எத்தனையோ காலம் முன்னால் உண்டானவை. செய்தவனை எப்படிக் காட்டுவது, என்று கேட்கலாம். சரி, இந்த ரோஜாப் புஷ்பம் இருக்கிறதே, இது அந்த வாழையை விடச் சமீபத்தில் உண்டானதுதான். முந்தாநாள் சிறு மொட்டாக இருந்தது. இப்போது அழகிய பூவாகியிருக்கிறது. இதில் நூற்றுக்கணக்கான இதழ்கள், ஒவ்வொன்றிலும் நுண்ணிய நரம்புகள், வாசனை எல்லாம் வந்திருக்கின்றன. நம் கண்முன்னமே இது மலர்ந்தது. ஆனாலும் மலர்த்தினவனை நமக்குத் தெரியவில்லை.

மனிதன் எல்லாம் தெரிந்த கெட்டிக்காரன் என்று நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். ஆனால் ஒரு காட்டு மிருகம் சென்னைப் பட்டணத்தைச் சுற்றி வந்தால் எதுவுமே தனக்குத் தெரியவில்லை என்று எப்படி ஆச்சரியப்பட்டுப் பார்க்குமோ, அப்படித்தான் இந்தப் பிரபஞ்சத்தில் நாம் இருந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறோம். மனிதனைவிடக் கெட்டிக்காரனாக ஒருவன் அவனை இப்படி வைத்திருக்கிறான்.

அத்தனை ரோஜாப் பூக்களும் ஒரே தர்மத்தில் மலர்வதால், அத்தனை மலைகளும் ஒரே தர்மத்தில் நிலைத்து இருப்பதால், அத்தனை நக்ஷத்திரங்களும் ஒரே தர்மத்தில் சுற்றுவதால், இந்தச் சகலத்தையும் செய்தவன் ஒரே எஞ்ஜினீயர் என்று தெரிகிறது. ஒரே ரீதியில், காரண காரிய விதியில், பிரபஞ்சம் முழுதும் கட்டுப்பட்டிருப்பதால், இதைச் செய்தது ஒரே அறிவு எனத் தெரிகிறது.

கெட்டிக்காரன் என்று தன்னை நினைத்துக் கொண்டிருக்கும் மனிதன், இத்தனையையும் இவனையும் செய்த அந்த மகா கெட்டிக்காரனைத் தெரிந்து கொள்ள வேண்டும். ஏனெனில், அவன் மகா கெட்டிக்காரன் மட்டுமல்ல, மகா நல்லவனுங்கூட, இத்தனையைத் திட்டமிட்டுப் படைத்த பேரறிவு என்பதோடு, இத்தனையையும் ரக்ஷிக்கும் பெரும் கருணையும் அவன். நமது கெட்டிக்காரத்தனம் அவன் தந்ததே என்று தெரிந்துகொண்டு அவனிடம் பிரார்த்தித்து கொண்டால் நமக்கு அவன் நல்லது செய்வான்.

அவன்தான் ஸ்வாமி, ஸ்வாமி என்பவன்.

இந்த நமது கெட்டிக்காரத்தனமே அவனுக்கு ஓர் அடையாளம்தான். கள்ளனைக் கண்டுபிடிக்க மண்ணில் பதித்த காலடிச் சுவடு இருக்கிறதுபோல், உள்ளம் கவர் ‘கள்வ’னான ஸ்வாமியின் காலடி, பிரபஞ்சத்தின் எல்லா இடத்திலும் பதிந்து கிடக்கிறது. நம் கெட்டிக்காரத்தனமும் அவனது காலடி அடையாளம்தான். இந்தக் கெட்டிக்காரத்தனத்துக்கெல்லாம் ஓர் ஆதாரம் இருக்க வேண்டும் என்று அது காட்டிக் கொடுப்பதால் அதுவே காலடியாகிறது.

சிருஷ்டிகார்த்தனாக ஒரு ஸ்வாமி இருப்பதற்கு நாமே அடையாளம். நாம் ஒவ்வொருவர் உள்ளங்கையிலும் அவன் தினுசு தினுசாகப் போட்டுள்ள ரேகை மாதிரி நம்மால் போட முடியுமா? இந்தப் பட்டணம் முழுவதிலும் அநேகம் மனிதர்களின் கெட்டிக்காரத்தனத்தால் செய்துள்ள காரியங்களைவிட அதிகமாக ஒரு சிறு இலையில் போட்டிருக்கிற ரேகைகளில் விசித்திரம் செய்திருக்கிறான் அவன். பிரபஞ்ச வஸ்து எல்லாமே அந்த மகா திருடனின் ரேகை அடையாளம்தான், திருடன் பதுங்கியிருப்பதுபோல் இவனும் பதுங்கியிருப்பவன்தான். அவன் குகைக்குள் ஒளிந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்றே வேதம் திரும்பத் திரும்பத் சொல்லும்.

நம் இதயம்தான் அந்தக் குகை. நமக்குள்ளேயே ஒளிந்து கொண்டு நமக்கு வெளியே இத்தனை அற்புதங்களைச் செய்து, நம்மை ஆச்சரியப்படுத்தித் தன்னை தேட வைக்கிறான் ஸ்வாமி. அப்படி அவனைத் தேடுகிறதுதான் பக்தி.

SWAMI

When we look at a house, we guess that there should be a person who built it.  We come to know that it was built by so and so engineer, architect etc.  When we look at a vehicle, we presume that there should have been some person who has manufactured or made it.  The house or vehicle has been built or designed in a structured way for a specific purpose.  We are clear that these have not come by accident, but there has been an intent to create them to serve a specific purpose.  Therefore, when we see any item which is a designed structure and serving a purpose, we conclude that there should have been a creator or person who has created it.

Similarly, should there not be a person who is the creator of this harmoniously structured huge universe?  When we are able to see the different natural phenomena serving specific purposes, in a systematic manner, we recognize that there should definitely be a great creator who has been able to do this.

While we are able to identify the person who has constructed this building where we are sitting right now, we are not able to identify the person who is behind the growth of this banana plant.  Even though we are not able to see the person who has created it, we are aware that there should be somebody who has created it as there is a pattern in the formation of the tightly packed leaf sheaths, formation of trunk, leaves etc., which, in entirety have formed into a banana plant.  We do not know with which equipment, the creator has managed to create this plant so systematically.  Similarly, we are not able to identify the person who has created this mountain or the stars or the moon in the sky.  One may argue how it would be possible to show the person who has created all these, so long ago.

Let us take the case of this Rose flower, which has come into being more recently than this banana plant.  It was only a bud, couple of days back, but has blossomed into a beautiful flower now.  It consists of hundreds of petals, each containing several minute nerves and gives out a nice fragrance.  Although we have seen this rose bloom, we have not been able to see the person who has made it to flower.

Human beings think that they are very smart.  Actually, we are all living in this universe just as ignorant and wonder-struck, as a wild animal would be, if it made a trip around this Chennai city.  There is therefore, somebody more superior who could make smart human beings.

Since it is the same system or principle which makes roses bloom, mountains to exist, stars to move around, etc., we can understand that it should be the same engineer who has created them.  Since the entire universe is under the control of the same system, pattern or rule we can know that it is the handiwork of the same person.

Man, who thinks himself to be intelligent, should therefore take efforts to get to know this person, who has created all these things as well as the man, because He is not only superior but also very benevolent.  He is not only the superior brain behind these systematic creations but also a kind protector.  When we recognize that whatever intelligence we have is actually what he has given to us and pray to him, he will do all the good to us.

And that person, is God.

That we are intelligent, by itself, is indicative of the greatness of God.  Just as the foot prints help in identifying a thief, foot prints of God, who is also a thief – having stolen our hearts, are all over the universe.  As there is a basis for everything, our intelligence itself is proof of his foot prints in His creation.

We are ourselves, proof to the existence of this creator. Can any of us create the different designs of lines he has been able to create in each of our palms?  He has been able to create more wonderful patterns in small leaves than all the designs created by man.  The entire universe is just a handiwork of this God. Vedas spell out repeatedly that just as a thief hides himself, He also hides himself in a cave, which is our own heart.  Hiding inside us, in our hearts, he has created all these wonders and make us look for him and that search of ours is called Bhakthi.
