உபநயனம் என்ற பூர்வாங்கத்திற்கும் ஸமாவர்த்தனம் என்கிற உத்தராங்கத்திற்கும் நடுவில் நான்கு வ்ரதங்கள் ஏற்பட்டிருக்கின்றன. நம்முடைய தக்ஷிண தேசத்தில் பெரும்பாலும் அநுஷ்டானத்திலுள்ள க்ருஷ்ண யஜுர் வேதத்தை எடுத்துக் கொண்டால், அவை பிராஜபத்யம், ஸெளம்யம், ஆக்னேயம், வைச்வதேவம் என்பவை. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
There are four “Vratas” between the purvanga called the upanayana and the uttaranga called the samavartana. These are Prajapatya, Saumya, Agneya, and Vaisvadeva. The four Vratas mentioned above are for students of the Krishna-Yajurveda.
