ஒரு தாய்க்கு ஒரு பிள்ளை
சாயங்காலம் ஐந்து மணி, பெரியவாள் ஸ்நானத்திற்காக உரிய இடத்தில் வந்து உட்கார்ந்தார்கள்.
அவர்கள் வஸ்திரத்தில் ஒரு பெரிய சடைப்பூரான் இருந்ததை தொண்டர்
பாணாம்பட்டு கண்ணன் பார்த்து விட்டார். பரபரப்புடன் கைகளைநீட்டி,
காவி ஆடையை வாங்கிக் கொள்ள முயன்றார்.”என்ன அவசரம்?” என்றார்கள் பெரியவாள்.
“பெரிய சடைப்பூரான் இருக்கு,வஸ்திரத்திலே….”
பெரியவா,கண்ணனிடம் வஸ்திரத்தைக் கொடுத்தார்.
“பூரானை ஒன்னும் செய்யாதே….ஹிம்சை செய்யாதே…. ஜாக்கிரதையா வெளியேஎடுத்துப் போடு….
பூரான் ஒரு தாய்க்கு ஒரு பிள்ளை…. ஒன்னை அழிச்சாலும், ஒரு குலத்தையே நாசம் பண்ணின மாதிரி…”
பூரான்….ஒரு விஷ ஜந்து. அந்த உயிரிடமும் கருணை, பெரியவாளுக்கு.
Every mother has only one child
In the evening at 5 PM, Periyava came and sat at the usual place where he takes bath. A devotee, Paanaampattu Kannan, saw that there was a centipede on the saffron cloth that was draped around Periyava. With great anxiety, Kannan tried to reach out immediately to receive the cloth.
“What is the hurry?” asked Periyava.
“There is a big centipede on the cloth, Periyava….”
Periyava gave the cloth to Kannan.
Periyava said, “Do not do anything to the centipede…. Do not cause any harm to it…. Carefully lift it and leave it outside…. In the centipede clan, Every mother has only one child…. Even if one is killed, it means destroying one full lineage of the centipede family…”
A centipede is a poisonous creature.. Still Periyava shows kindness and compassion even to that living thing..

Well, I will myself give the English version!
When we read about such incidents, we cannot fail to think of Sri Ramana! Scorpions and snakes used to be found in Sri Ramanasramam, Sri Bhagavan’s attendants would just lift the scorpion deftly without getting stung and leave it outside. If a snake was found at night, they would let the snake slither away, by showing light from behind it so that it was not confused by the light. They never used to hit or kill anything. Of course, behind it all was the confidence that Bhagavan was there!
Jnanis act alike! For them Ahimsa is supreme dharma. (Ahimsa paramo dharma:) The Gita says that one who is not feared by anyone, and who does not fear anyone is the Jnani!
But we see a slightly different position with Gandhiji, Inmates of the Sabarmati Ashram raised the question: whether they should beat scorpions or snakes, or follow Ahimsa! Gandhiji refused to answer such theoretical questions and said that if the scorpion or snake actually came to their place, they should do what was necessary for protection! This is mentioned in a small publication titled Ashram Observances In Action.
It was Mahaperiya who made Sri Ramana known to the world. Gandhiji who advocated Ahimsa had also met Mahaperiyava. So these incidents have been mentioned here..
இம்மாதிரி விஷயங்கள் வ்ந்தால், ஸ்ரீ ரமணரை நினைக்காமல் இருக்கமுடியவில்லை!
ரமணாஶ்ரமத்தில் தேள், பாம்பு நடமாட்டம் உண்டு, தேளைப் பார்த்தால், தொண்டர்கள் அதன் கொடுக்கைப் பிடித்து, அப்படியே அலாக்காகத் தூக்கி வெளியில் விட்டுவிடுவார்கள். அடிப்பதில்லை! இரவு வேளையில் பாம்பைக் கண்டால் , ஒரு விளக்கின் வெளிச்சத்தில், (பாம்பின் கண் கூசாமல், அதன் பின்னாலிருந்து வெளிச்சம் வருமாறு செய்து) அது தானாகவே நகர்ந்து வெளியில் போகுமாறு செய்வார்கள்! ஒன்றையும் அடித்ததில்லை! ஆனால், எல்லாவற்றுக்கும் பின்னால், ஸ்ரீ பகவான் இருக்கும் தைரியம்!
ஞானிகள் செய்கை ஒரே மாதிரி! அஹிம்சையே பரம தர்மம்! யாரைக்கண்டு எந்த உயிருக்கும் பயம் தோன்றுவதில்லையோ, யாருக்கு எந்தவுயிரைக்கண்டும் பயம் இல்லையோ,அவரே ஞானி என்பது கீதை வாக்கல்லவா?
ஆனால் காந்திஜியிடம் இன்னொரு நிலையைப் பார்க்கிறோம். அவருடைய ஸபர்மதி ஆஶ்ரமத்தில், அங்கிருந்தவர்கள் இதே கேள்வியை எழுப்பினார்கள் – தேள், பாம்பைக் கண்டால் அடிப்பதா, கூடாதா? கற்பனையாகக் கேட்கும் கேள்விகளுக்கு பதில் சொல்லமுடியாதென்றும், உண்மையாகவே அவை நம் இடத்திற்கு வந்தால், பாதுகாப்புக்கு எது அவசியமோ அதைச் செய்யவேண்டும் என்றும் சொல்லிவிட்டார்! Ashram Observances In Action என்ற சிறிய வெளீயீட்டில் இந்த ப்ரஸ்தாபம் வருகிறது!
