Pradosham Special – Unique Rotating Sivalingam and Aavudai

SivalingamJaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara – Happy Pradosham to all. Let me explain a bit about these video clips taken in both day and night for a total of 2 minutes. The Sivan temple near Kanchi Mahaswami Mandapam has a ceiling with a Siva Lingam drawing on it. The unique thing about it is, when you look up at this Sivalingam and start doing Pradakshinam under it (circumambulate) both the Sivalingam as well the Aavudai (base) in the ceiling moves along with you (it seems that way). Not sure of it is clearly captured in the following videos but one can certainly enjoy this experience in person. A very unique architectural brilliance! In the back ground we hear Veda Goshams from the Vidhyarthis of Veda Patasala. Ram Ram

  6. We saw an Exactly similar “Colour Painting of
ROTATING Siva Lingam with Avadayar” in SINGAPORE , during our visit last year, during its Kumbhabhishekam. The painting is done on the
ceiling (which itself is difficult) . If you stand underneath the painting, looking at the painting of Siva Lingam, the Siva Lingam with its Avadayar, and circumbulate , constantly looking at the painting, it would appear to be rotating, with the Avadayar always on your right when your rotate yourself,
(atma pradakshanam) ,and the face of the Siva Lingam (with vibhooti tripundram and kumkumam) looking at you on any position. One has to see it to experience the painting marvel….difficult to explain or capture in foto. You will feel vertigo while looking at it.
The Budhists and Christians institutions had offered sizable donations for the Kumbhabhishekam. They took part in voluntary works such as distributing water, snacks to the laksh of devotees who had come from different localities to see the kumbhabhishekam The residents of the locality, offered parking space and rest room help to the needy while waiting in the line with babs in arms. We visited on the next day of Kumbhbhishekam, and each of us got prasadam, containing one sealed bottle of Kumbhabhishekam holy water, vibhooti, Kumkum, and a souveni, all free. Special free transport was arranged for the occasion from different localities of the City on the auspicious day.

  7. There is one near Mukkuruni Vinayagar sannidhi as you come out of Meenakshi amman Shrine.

  8. My memory says that a similar one is seen in the ceiling of inner pragaram, in MaduraI Meenakshi Temple
