ஆனந்தத்திலே இரண்டு வகை இருக்கிறது. பொங்குகிற ஆனந்தம் ஒன்று, அடங்கி அனுபவிக்கின்ற நிலை ஒன்று. பொங்குகிற ஆனந்த தாண்டவ மூர்த்தி நடராஜா. அவர் சடையைப் பார்த்தாலே இது தெரியும். இப்படி இரண்டு பக்கமும் ‘கிர்ர்’ என்று அவர் சுற்றுகிற வேகத்தில் சடை தூக்கிக் கொண்டு நிற்கிறது. ‘விரித்த செஞ்சடையான்’ ஆகிவிடுகிறான். அப்போது அவன் கையில் இருக்கும் உடுக்கையிலிருந்து ‘அ இ உண், ருலுக்’ என்பதான பதினாறு சூத்திரங்கள் வந்துகொண்டிருக்கின்றன. ஆனந்தத் தாண்டவ மூர்த்தியின் கையிலிருந்து வரும்படியான அந்தப் 14 சூத்திரங்களுந் தாம் அதிலிருந்து விரிந்த மஹா பாஷ்ய புத்தகத்தில் அடங்கி இருக்கின்றன. கூத்தாடும்போது பொங்கி வந்த சப்தங்கள் புத்தகத்தில் அடங்கி இருக்கின்றன. ஆனந்தக் கூத்தின் சப்தங்கள் அடங்கியிருக்கும் படியான புத்தகத்தைக் கையில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு சாந்தமாக அமைந்திருக்கும் படியான ஆனந்தத்தோடு உட்கார்ந்திருக்கும்படியான மூர்த்தி தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்தி. இவரும் தெற்குப் பக்கம் பார்த்துக் கொண்டு தான் ஈச்வரனுடைய தென்னண்டைப் பிரகாரத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறார். நடராஜரின் கோலத்தில் சடைகள் நான்கு பக்கமும் விரிந்து கிடக்கின்றன. தக்ஷிணாமூர்த்திக் கோலத்தில் அவை அமைந்த ஜடா மண்டலமாகத் தொங்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன. அங்கே சந்திரன் தெறித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. இங்கே ஆனந்தமாகப் பிரகாசித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறது. ஒரு கால் பூமியிலிருக்க இன்னொரு காலைத் தூக்கிக் கொண்டு அங்கே கூத்தாடிக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார். ஒரு காலின் மேல் இன்னொரு காலைத் தூக்கிப் போட்டுக் கொண்டு இங்கே உட்கார்ந்து கொண்டிருக்கிறார். அங்கே ஆனந்தமூர்த்தி, இங்கே ஞானமூர்த்தி. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்

There are two type in Aananda (Happiness). One that is bubbling and the other that is subtle which one enjoys internally. The dancer Nataraja belongs to the former. We can see it in his mane. The fast pace with which dances on both sides with a ‘Kirr’ action makes his hair stand up. He is called ‘Viritha Senchatayaan’ (untied red hair). During that time from the udukkai (small drum) in his hand we get 14 suthras (systematic treatises in the form of aphorisms) such as ‘a e un ruluk’. Those sixteen suthras coming out of the happy dancing god resides in exapanded format in the Maha Bashya books. When he dancing the sounds came out is recorded in those books. The book that came out of the happy dancing god is held in hands by Lord Dakshinamurthy who is sitting calmly. He is sitting in the southern prakaram facing south direction. During the form of Nataraja the mane (hair) is spread apart in four different directions. In the form of Dakshinamurthy it forms the shape of Jada Mandalam. Chandran is sparkling here. The state of Aananda is shining there. Over there, he is dancing on one leg on earth and another one in air. Here he is having one leg over the other and sitting. There he is Ananda Murthy.
