இன்பத்துக்கு சாதனமாக வேண்டுவது பொருள். ருசியாக சாப்பிடலாம், அது ஒரு சந்தோஷம். ஜீரணமானவுடன் அந்த இன்பம் போய்விடும். சங்கீதம் கேட்பதால் உண்டாகும் இன்பமும் அப்படியே; மறுபடி கச்சேரி கேட்கப் போக வேண்டி இருக்கும். நமக்கு ஒரு நல்வரவுப் பத்திரம் வாசித்துக் கொடுத்தால் அது ஒரு சந்தோஷம். அது சிறிது நேரமே இருக்கும். நான்கு பேர்கள் அதை ஒப்புக் கொள்ளவில்லை என்றால் சந்தோஷம் போய்விடுகிறது. இந்த இன்பத்திற்கெல்லாம் ஆதாரம் பொருள். – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
We desire material as the tool for happiness. We can eat delicious food which gives happiness but is shortlived and goes off after the food is digested. It is the same with Sangeetham (music) as well. We have to listen to music again to get the happiness. When some body gives us a welcome address we feel happy which is transient. If a few people do not accept that we do not feel happy anymore. The basis for all the above mentioned happiness is material. – Sri Kanchi Maha Periyava
