மாயை என்றால் என்ன? விஷ்ணுவைப் பாருங்கள். அவரோ கருநீலம். அவர் படுத்திருக்கும் பாம்பணையோ, பாற்கடலோ சுத்த சத்துவமான ஒரே வெளுப்பு. அவர் தொழிலோ ஜகத்தை எல்லாம் ரக்ஷிப்பது. அவர் இருக்கும் நிலையோ ஒரே தூக்கம். இவை ஒன்றுகொன்று நேர் விரோதமாக இருக்கின்றன. இது தான் ஈஸ்வர சக்தி. இதற்குத்தான் மாயை என்று பெயர். மாயை என்றால் எவை ஒன்றோடு ஒன்று சேராதோ அவற்றை எல்லாம் சேர்த்து வைப்பது. சேராததை முடித்து வைப்பது எதுவோ அது மாயை. எது இன்னதென்று சொல்ல முடியாதோ அது மாயை. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீசந்திரசேகரேந்திர சரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
What is Maya? Look at Lord Maha Vishnu. His color is dark blue. The snake bed and the milky ocean are pure white in color (representing Sathva). His job is to protect the universe. He is always sleeping. All of the above mentioned are direct opposites of each other. This is what is called as ‘Eswara Sakthi’. This is what is called as ‘Maya’. Maya means relating things that otherwise won’t relate to each other. Tying things together that are not related is Maya. One that cannot be described is Maya. – Sri Kanchi Maha Periyava
