Sri Painganadu Srinivasa Sastrigal was born on 4th.April 1911 and became Sanyasi on 25th.April 1975. Sri Mudikondan Swamigal ( as he was called ) told Shivaraman this experience. Sri Swamigal reached the lotus feet of Sri Mahaperiyava on the day of Sri Mahaperiyava Aaradhana on 22.12. 2000
பெரியவா சரணம்
மஹா பெரியவா கும்பகோணத்திலிருந்து திருமால்பூர் நோக்கி தனது விஜயத்தை பரிவாரங்கள் புடைசூழ தொடருகிறார். பல மைல்களைக் கடக்க வேண்டும்.
மடத்துச் சாமான்கள் எல்லாம் மாட்டு வண்டிகளில் ஏற்றப்பட்ட பின், மடத்து ஊழியர்களும் பக்தர்களும் மகானைப் பின் தொடர்ந்து நடந்து வந்தார்கள். வண்டியில் பூட்டப்பட்ட ஒரு மாடு காலில் அடிபட்டு நொண்டியபடி நடந்தது….
அந்த மாட்டை விரட்ட வேண்டாம் என மகான் கட்டளையிட, மெதுவாகவே நடந்து சென்றார்கள். பக்தர்களில் ஒருவராக மஹாபெரியவாளின் பரமபக்தரான முடி கொண்டான் சாஸ்திரிகளும் நடந்து சென்றார்.
அவரால் வெயிலில் நடக்கமுடியவில்லை. மிகவும் சிரமத்துடன் நடந்தார். மெதுவாக அருகில் இருந்த பக்தரிடம் சங்கடத்துடன் கேட்கிறார், “திருமால்பூர் இன்னும் எத்தனை தூரம்?” இது இயலாமையால் எழுந்த கேள்வி.
“என்ன சொல்கிறார்” மகான் கேட்கிறார். இவர் சொன்னதை அவரிடம் சொல்ல முடியுமா? கேட்டதை மறைத்து விடுகிறார்கள். முடி கொண்டான் என்ன கேட்டார், அவரது இப்போதைய நிலை என்ன என்று மகானுக்குத் தெரியாதா?
அடுத்த நிமிடம் அவர் வானத்தை நோக்கி தனது கருணை நிறைந்த பார்வையை செலுத்துகிறார். உக்ரமா சூட்டை வீசிக் கொண்டிருந்த சூரியன், கறுத்த மேகங்களால் மறைக்கப்படுகிறார். வெயில் மறையவே சூடு தணிந்தது.
வெகு தூரத்தில் இருந்த திருமால்பூரை அவர்கள் அடையும் வரை அந்த மேகங்கள் குடை பிடித்தபடி, எல்லோர் சிரமத்தையும் போக்கி விட்டது.

Periyava Sharanam
Maha Periyava starts out on foot from KumbakoNam to Thirumaalbur accompanied by His devotees and assistants. Many miles to cover.
After the luggage from the SriMatham was loaded onto bullock carts, the employees of the SriMatham and devotees started off behind the Mahaan. One bullock in one of the carts was limping since its leg was wounded.
The Mahaan ordered that the bullock should not be driven to walk fast. As a result the group was walking slowly. One of Periyava’s staunch devotee, Mudikondan ShastrigaL was also there in that group.
He was not able to walk in the hot sun and was struggling. Quietly, he asked a devotee who was walking alongside him, “How much further is Thirumaalbur?”
This question clearly showed his struggle.
“What is he saying?”, asks the Mahaan. Since it was not proper to let Periyava know, they somehow avoided answering. But is it really possible to shield something from Periyava and cover up Mudikondan’s plight ?
The next moment, He looked up and cast His kind looks on the sky. The sun which was shining down fiercely was soon covered by dark clouds. As the sun went behind the clouds, the heat came down.
The clouds continued to shield the group from the sun till they reached Thirumaalbur which was quite some distance away, and reduced their discomfort

Painganadu village is near our village Siddhamalli. Painganadu Sri Ganapathi Sastri was the student of Mannargudy Periavaa Sri Raju Sastrigal along with my great grand father Siddhamalli Subramania Sastri in 1911. Sri Subramania sastri who then became the Devotee and ‘antharanga priya syshya of Sri Mahaswami and got apasthamba yoga anugraha by Periavaa and attained Siddhi in 1933 (Tamil Ayyppasi Krishna Shasti)
I am the maternal grandson of Siddhamalli Periavaa in His Poorvasrama.
We are celebrating varshiga aradana every year Ayppasi krishna shasti at Siddhamalli.
Pynganadu is near Mannargudi 8 to 10 miles and they used to sa y Pozuthu Vidinthal Pynganadu i.e. in those days erattai mattu vandi pooti Mgt. it will leve in the night and next early morning the cart will reach Pynganadu automatically. Sastha temple is the Poorvigam of my f.i.l. the late V.Ramamurthy. This is on the way Thirumalaisamuthiram.Namaskarams RAJA
