ரிஷிகள் தாங்கள் செய்த தவங்களின் பலனை மக்களுக்கு கொடுத்த இடங்களே கோயில்களும், தீர்த்தங்களும். தவம் செய்ய சக்தி இல்லாதவர்களும் பாவத்தை தொலைக்க வருபவர்களும் இக்கோவில்களுக்கு யாத்திரை செய்வதாலும் இத்தீர்த்தங்களில் முழுகுவதிலும் தாங்கள் புனிதமடைவதுடன் மிகவும் புண்ணிய சாலிகளாகவும் ஆகின்றனர்.
