Pleased to inform you that The Thiruparkadal kulam, created by Lord Nataraja for Vyakrapathar son Ubamanyu to feed his hunger, at Chidambaram was in a ruined stage for many many years. With the ardent devotion and dedicated work of Mr. M Senguttuvan, Smt Mahalakshmi mami and support from Government the Thiruparkadal kulam was restored and the inauguration of the kulam is planned on 18th January 2015 (Sunday). All are requested to participate in the function and get the Blessings of Lord Natarajar.

Thiruparkadal is a tank created by Lord Natarajar himself for Vyakrapather’s son Ubamanyu. When Ubamanyu was born there was no mothers milk and Ubamanyu was fed rice flour and sugar. Then one day mother took Ubamanyu to his materanal uncle Vasissta’s house and fed home milk from Kamdhenu. After returning to their Ashram Ubamanyu mother fed him with rice flour and sugar, but he refused to eat and cried for Kamadhenu’s milk. Then Vyakrapathar prayed Lord Shiva and Natarajar created this parkadal. There are many literatures evidence available. There are 12 songs about Thiruparkadal sung by different saints. One is the famous song sung by Senthanar “Palukku balahan Vendi Azhuthida Parkadal eentha Piran”.
