I am very happy to share the invitation to all readers in US to a very grand Maharudra Yagna event that is going to be hosted by Hindu Mandir of Lake County in Grayslake, IL (suburb of Chicago) from May 2 to May 4, 2014. We will have more than 121 ritwiks from around the country to chant Rudram, Chamakam and other strotras in praise of Lord Shiva during those days. The whole event will end on Sunday, May 4 with Rudra Homam and Purnahuthi.

The vibrations that will be created in this event is going to be beyond words! On behalf of the temple, I would like to invite all of the readers in US to attend this grand event and receive the blessings of Lord Siva. Don’t miss it!
I read it somewhere that wherever Sri Rudram is chanted, Mahaperiyava is pratyaksham in that place. I am sure Mahaperiyava will guide us and bless everyone who attends this event.
If you have learnt veda from an acharya and want to participate as a ritwik, please register yourself through the link in the site.

thanks.
Many core Vaideeka programmes such as Yaga, Yagnas, Shraddham, etc, do not hold much effect when performed outside of Bharatha bhumi since Bharatha alone is Karma bhumi, as defined clearly by Shastras and upheld by Acharyas and Shastragnas. It is fine to do Sandhyavandanam, for it is as basic an anushtanam such to eating and sleeping. But other than these, the other vaideeka karyas are best not performed abroad. Devotees settled abroad and eager to perform such homam can very well conduct these back home in India. Mahaperiyava Himself did not approve Brahmanas travelling abroad, being in line with the Shastras. Yet many of us have done so due to loukika compulsions. But we can at least desist from holding such Vaideeka programs overseas. There are many people that take pride in saying they perform Shraddha karma-s even though being abroad. This is another big mistake. The avirbhaga given in such conditions is not accepted by the Pitrus. If people are truly inclined to perform Shraddham, they can return back to India during that period and perform them. We have several Shiva kshetra-s that languish for want of daily puja itself. Such event organizers can instead arrange to perform such yagnas in such Shiva kshetras so that it would help increase the sannidhyam of that temple and benefit several poor Vaideeka families.
Beautiful! May 4th is Adi Shankara Jayanthi!
