As you all know I have posted few articles/photos in the past about HH Mettur Swamigal (a.k.a Engineer Mettur Rajagopalan in His poorvashrama). Dedicated his life to serve Mahaperiyava and finally given sanyasa by Him too…He finished veda adhyanam followed by all upanishads, brahma sutra and the list goes on…. He was the one who accompanied Periyava during Satara padha yatra and wrote the chronicle that I published few months back. He also plays the role of the pilot in all of Periyava’s trip and responsible to identify, plan for Periyava’s stay as He walks.
He has not been keeping good health in the past few months. It seems that His health is deteriorating now – particularly in the past few days. Currently, doctors are attending Him (after lot of persuasion by His devotees). As of now, He is talking, sitting with help etc. However there is a long way to come out of danger. All His devotees are around Him to serve Him. We all need to pray Lord Mahalingeswarar and His human form HH Mahaperyava for the same. We can pray for ordinary mortals – not sure how to pray for mahans – yet, we will do with our limited intelligence.
I am posting this after confirming that one of His poorvashrama relatives has posted similar update in facebook. I am also in regular touch with Govindapuram, where He stays, to get some updates. I will keep you all posted with developments.
To read previous postings about Him, please do a search on “Mettur” in the search bar at the bottom of the page.

Dear Sri.JeyendraSaraswathi — May I request that you add at least a “Sri” to your name since you are using the same name as our HH Sri Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal.
I would like to suggest to all readers to address our periyavas as either HH or Sri Sri Sri (or at least a Sri) for such a GREAT mahan.
Can you please provide the details of Sri. Kamakshi Daasan family ?
Thanks

Dear Mahesh sir,
Namaskaram. I am a regular follower of your site. Hope you are aware of Kamakshi Dasan Mama. His son died on 28th October in a road traffic accident and Mama’s family is struggling and anybody willing can provide monitory assistance to them. I don’t know how to seek help for him. Please do the needful . I have his contact details. If requested will provide. Thanks. Jeyendrasaraswathi.S
yes, i came to know about this incident recently. I used to talk to mama and his son “Sankaran” regularly….Looks like the person who died in this accident is his brother. I am yet to talk to him..
I pray to Maha Periyava to Bless Sri Mettur SwamigaL with good health and long life, so that Hr can guide us lesser mortals to avoid sin and redeem ourselves! Sri Baalaambika samedha Sri Viadhyanatha Swamikku Namaskaaram! Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara!
yes i also saw this in facebook. hundreds of devotees are thronging but he did a lot of atma vichar with his gurus son (krishnamurthy sastrigal) under whom he did adhyayanam while at mettur and pappa sastrigal also visited him. a lot of devotees are there but he is a gnani and talks about periava and also gives directions to some who write some books etc. yes it is a long for that great person born in thai masam rohini in 1938, studied chemical engineering, worked in Mettur chemicals, joined as a bramachari to be with periava, learnt brahma sutras etc. had the privilege of discussing such matters with periava and was one who took the greatest pleasure and devotion in getting up at 3 am and bringing water after proper anushtanam and snanam in that kudam (which he used to clean until he can see his face in that) etc. he is giving darshan now (though he was against all publicity and people seeing him – not that he was getting disturbed in his tapas but because of modern day requests!!!! it is difficult to find a sanyasin like him who has walked barefoot all over india, not eating cooked food etc. Mettur used to visit periava often and it was somewhere in seventies between 72 and 74 he joined with periava at sivaasthanam and the led that hermit life. when He asked Periava to give him Sanyas Periava laughed and said let him wait till his mother was alive (His mother and my mother were great friends and it appears each could not attend the others marriage because they were married on the same date!!!!). He did attend the last rites of His mother and last visit to the family!!!!
may god bless us to be with him for some more time.
By the benign grace and abundant blessings of His true Mentor; Spiritual and Adhyantha Guru i.e Maha Perivaa, the Mettrur Swamigal should become better and normal. We all join in praying for the speedy recovery. God is kind.
I pray to Sri Maha Periyava to spare Him for us for a few more years. Chidambaresan, Chennai
A great soul blessed by Maha Periyavaa. Thank you very much too for posting very valuable inputs. I had been to Govindapuram recently during Mahalaya Paksham but I had no idea of meeting him. Somehow I missed a great personality. Jaya Jaya Shankara Hara Hara Shankara

Praying for his recovery and well-being. Maha Periyaval will take care of him. Ram
Very thoughtful ( and nice of you) of you.
Radhe Krishna. Om Sri.Mahalingeswaya Namo Namaha. Hara Hara Sana, Jaya Jaya Sankara.
I remember Sri. Mettur Swamigal very well as I walked with Pujya Sri. Maha Periyava during Andhra/Maharashtra trip for several days. On many occasions, Sri. Mettur Swamigal and I used to go for an evening ablution. After finishing evening sandhya, Sri.Mettur Swamigal sat before Pujya Sri. Mahaperiyavaa and chanted Siva Kavacham. I still remember very vividly all these events.
Sri. Mettur Swamigal is a great soul (a true practitioner who attained shamaadi shat sampatti). His dedicated guru seva every day started with waking up early morning to fetch water for Pujya Sri. Mahaperiyavaa’s bath. He is a pujanIya who followed “gururukta vAkye manO yasya lagnam” (Follow guru’s words by putting your mind on them).
I met him in Orirukkai before He moved to Gopvindapuram. I sincerely pray to Sri. Mahaperiyavaa for Sri. Mettur swamigal’s speedy recovery.
