  1. Thanks Mahesh. I have one more request from my side.
It would be great if we can include “Thought of the day” section in this wonderful blog by quoting it from “Theivathin(jagath guruvin) kural”. Suddenly came to my mind so shared with you.

PS: I am thankful to you always. I am keeping this site as my home page in browser, so whenever I open the browser “Waiting for mahaperiyava…” would come as title 🙂

jaya jaya shankara hara hara shankara

  2. “anyone living outside should consult local pandits for proper conversion etc particularly when you’re doing some auspicious things….”

Correctly said. For festivals, one can simply pray to Lord Ganapathi and Maha Periyavaa and conduct nicely! Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara!

  3. Thank you. This would be most useful for devotees living in India.
Which brings me to my question about whether the Indian calendar – based on sunrise and sunset in India – can be used in other countries with several hours time difference from India. Indeed, there are many different opinions on this subject among hindu communities outside India.
A good explanation of why Indian panchangam cannot be used in other countries is given by Pandit Mahesh Shastriji in this link: http://www.mypanchang.com/indianpanchang.php and
    http://www.mypanchang.com/Why-there-is-a-one-day-difference-in-hindu-festival-dates-in-India-and-America.php
The ISKCON authorities direct that observances should be according to the local calendar of the place. However, there are no similar authorised directions for our general Hindu community. Currently, each hindu community makes it’s own choice in this matter.

It would be great if we can get some directives or instructions on this matter from Sri Matam.

Hara Hara Shankara Jaya Jaya Shankara!

    • Yes certain thithis and other things might change between country to country. So Sri Matam calendar takes care of all Indian continent timings t- avoid each calendar for each community. For other countries, it can still serve as a good basis on how things are observed in India and anyone living outside should consult local pandits for proper conversion etc particularly when you’re doing some auspicious things….

I will wait for other experts to comment.

  4. Dear Mahesh,

I feel a pdf attachment or upload this file in drive and share link.

This will have better visibility for reading.

    Raman mama.

  5. Good idea put in action. Thanking you.

  6. Mahesh, please inform the audience that this calendar is for India or US use. The nakshathram and thithi for USA is different (munna pinna varum) than India. Your intention should not lead to confusion.

  7. It will be quite useful indeed Mahesh.

  8. .Jaya Jaya Sankara, Very good idea, I would like to have one for me.Jagadeesan

  9. Great. Already have this in house.

  10. Thank you. Jaya Jaya Sankara ! Hara Hara Sankara !

  11. Mahesh,
Also, I would not include two pages in one posting – I would have only one page at a time. thanks
