Shri Govind Giri Maharaj who was ordained the SanyAsa by HH Pudhuperiyava himself , narrated an incident in Gangtok, Sikkim where Pudhuperiyava was camping. The camp happened in winter and it was extremely cold in gangtok at that point of time. HH Pudhuperiyava , unmindful of all that, in his kAshAya vastram decided to sit outside to give prasAdham to the local people. The conversation, as narrated by Shri Govind Giri dev Maharaj, as follows:
GGM: Guru maharaj, why do you have to be here in this weather? You are already shivering and this temperature does not suit you. Please place the prasadh here and we all will distribute it to people
HH: This village has never seen an achArya from our Kanchi Kamakoti peetham. I need to be here to ensure people get the prasadham from Me and remember that a Shankaracharya from an esteemed mutt and Guru paramparA came to our village and blessed us personally.
The incident speaks for itself and I don’t have to say more. Shri.GGM also narrated an incident where a group of muslim villagers near Bhuj, Gujarat explained with tears in the eye that the Mutt’s van was the only vehicle to stop in their village to provide earthquake relief.

Total compassion personified in the lines of His Guru! We are fortunate to have His Karunyam. Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara!
In day to day activities itself, we can see ample evidences of Their Holinesses karunyam. Immediately after Srimad Chandramoulishwara Puja which takes about 4 hours (or longer if trikalam is done), the Acharyas sit patiently blessing every single devotee extending his hand with a few drops of the sanctified tirtham. The Acharyas are known not to partake anything except shuddha jalam until the puja is completed. Although devotees who partake tirtham head towards anna santarpana, the Acharyas would not accept bhiksha until all devotees have been blessed with tirtham, and by the time they have their madhyanika snanam and accept bhiksha it would easily be around 3-4 pm and this could be delayed further if the day is a pournima when they have the vapana diksha visarjanam or any festival.
This narration came in the Vajra mahothsavam function held on 23rd march at Krishna gana sabha and all of us were just spell bound. Periyava’s energy level can neve be matched by us. Periyava is Periyava always smily and enquiring the welfare of the devotees irrespective of his personal sufferings.
all these were happening and puduperiava always used to show his compassion for all his bhaktas.
HH Puduperiyava is compassion personified as experienced by me and my wife personally on several occasions where we were recipients of His grace
No one can equal Pudhu Periyava when it comes to touring the length and breadth of this country to meet people and provide darshan, relief and spiritual guidance. How HE is able to travel non stop unmindful of food and comfort we will never know. HE is truly the King among Sanyasis.

information. Acharyas are above everything and for them biting cold etc does not matter
and they stand as an example to others. Our Pranams to Acharya for distributing Prasadams
to the local people to get an awareness of the Kanchi Mutt, which always upholds the tradition
in the high spirit.

There is no end to the transformation brought about by pudu periva (I do not think He is “pudu” anymore…however, the Name continues…)…He is the first and the only Acharya of a traditional monastic order to,-
a) have instructed Dalit devotees in meditation,
b) have guided all kinds of politicians,
c) have manifested divine Love for one and all like Jesus, and
d) have “envisioned” (though that may not have succeeded due to the Wlll of the Adi Acharya) that non-dualism belongs to all nations.
As the Holy Name of Lord Rama,-who talked only about rightfulness all the time,-is taken by many devotees for Liberation, and
as the Life of Jesus,-who talked only about God,-is followed by many people for love for fellow beings,
a time will come, when pudu periva’s Name will be chanted and followed by people for love for fellow beings…
