  1. Simply superb. We have at our house a photo of our Mahaperiyaval drawn by Shri. Shilpi mama, where our Mahaperiyaval will be performing Shri Chandramouleeswara Puja. Even the Bhilva dhala will be perfectly sculpted so to say (with three leaves in HIS hands). It is an extraordinary gift of God to people like him and Shri.B. Narayanan.

  2. I am also an ardent fan of shilpi mama’s drawings. This is a stupendous work sir, bringing both Periyava and shilpi mama’s drawing together.Nice thought.

  7. wonderful painting of the mahan

  8. Simply awsome and superb.

  9. I want to add a few lines on this painting. The line drawing seen on the right is that of Garba Rakshakambal’ temple near Kumbalonam and was originally drawn by my ‘Maanaseeka Guru’ Sri Silpi ,may be in the fifty’s. I did it on this , thus composing Mahaperiava’s Image with that. I consider Silpi mama as the ultimate in line and perspective drawings; he does them by sitting in a vantage point, looking at the scene, just like that. It is simply amazing! I am glad to learn that Vikatan Pirasuram is bringing out two volumes of Silpi mama’s line drawings , titled, “Thennaattu chelvangal”

  10. In Hinduism, there are many paths (maargas) of devotion: like complete surrender (saranaagathi), master-slave bhava, nayakan – nayaki bhava and many more. Sri. Narayanan Bala has chosen a unique new way: picturesque devotion with portraits and paintings (vannamaya maarga, we can call) . His paintings and pencil drawings remaind me of famous “Silpi” of Ananda Vikatan. Vannamaya maarga leads to ‘Aanandamaya – bliss’). I am happy that I am related to this great person and we exchange many matters related to education and culture. Salutation to Sri. Narayan Bala. J Sethuraman
