சென்னையில் வசித்த சுப்பிரமணியன், காஞ்சிப்பெரியவரின் மீது தீவிரபக்தி கொண்டவர். எப்போது வாய்ப்பு கிடைத்தாலும் சுவாமிகளைச் சந்திக்கத் தவறியதில்லை. 1983 பிப்ரவரியில் மஹாகாவ்ம் முகாமிற்குச் சென்று தரிசனம் செய்தார். அப்போது அவர் சுவாமிகளிடம் ஒரு விண்ணப்பத்தைக் கொடுத்தார்.
“”பண்டரிபுரம் சென்று பாண்டுரங்கனைத் தரிசிக்க எண்ணுகிறேன். ஆனால், எனக்கு நாளையோடு லீவு முடிந்துவிடுகிறது. நாளை மறுநாள் அலுவலகத்திற்கு அவசியம் செல்லவேண்டும். அதற்குள் பாண்டுரங்கனைத் தரிசிக்கும்பேறு கிடைத்தால் சந்தோஷம் அடைவேன்,” என்று விண்ணப்பத்தில் தெரிவித்திருந்தார். பெரியவரும் அவருக்கு ஆசி வழங்கி பிரசாதம் கொடுத்தார்கள். பெரியவரின் அருளால் நாளை உறுதியாக பண்டரிநாதனைத் தரிசிக்கமுடியும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையோடு பண்டரிபுரம் கிளம்பினார் சுப்பிரமணியம். ஆனால், அவருக்கு அங்கு அதிர்ச்சி காத்திருந்தது. அன்றைய தினத்தில் அங்கு கட்டுக்கு அடங்காமல் மக்கள் கூட்டம் நிரம்பி வழிந்தது.
நீண்ட வரிசையில் மக்கள் தரிசனத்திற்குக் காத்து நின்றனர். நம்பிக்கையோடு வந்தும் பாண்டுரங்கனைக் காண முடியவில்லையே என்ற மனவேதனையில் கோயிலையாவது ஒருமுறை வலம் வரலாம் என்று சுற்றத் தொடங்கினார். கோபுரவாசலுக்கு அருகில் வரும் போது, திட்டிவாசல் என்னும் ஒடுக்கமான வாசலை அடைந்தார். அவ்வாசல் வழியாக ஒருவர் மட்டுமே நுழைய முடியும். அவ்வாசல் வழியாக கோயில் பண்டா(அர்ச்சகர்) ஒருவர் கதவைத் திறந்து கொண்டு சுப்பிரமணியத்தைப் பார்த்து ஹிந்தியில் பேசினார். “”விட்டோபா (பாண்டுரங்கன்) தரிசனம் வேணும்னா என்னோட வா” என்று அழைத்தார் அந்த பண்டா.
ஆச்சர்யத்துடன் சுப்பிரமணியம் பண்டாவைப் பின்தொடர்ந்தார். ஐந்தே நிமிடத்தில் பாண்டுரங்கன் முன், அவர் நின்று கொண்டிருந்தார். பாண்டுரங்கனும் ருக்மாயியும் புன்னகையுடன் தரிசனம் தந்தனர். சிறு காணிக்கையை பண்டாவிடம் கொடுத்துவிட்டு அங்கிருந்து அவர் கிளம்பினார். அவரை அழைத்துச் சென்றவர் கோயில் பண்டாவாகவே சுப்பிரமணியனுக்குத் தோன்றவில்லை. பாண்டுரங்க தரிசனம் பெற காஞ்சிப்பெரியவரே உதவியதாகவே நம்பினார்.
அல்லாடி கிருஷ்ண சாமி ஐயர் மகன் டாக்டர் ராமகிருஷ்ணனும், அவரது மனைவி லலிதா ராமகிருஷ்ணனும் அமெரிக்கா செல்வதற்கு முன் காஞ்சிபுரம் மடத்திற்கு பெரியவரைக் காண வந்திருந்தனர். பெரியவரிடம், “”வரும் 12ம்தேதி புறப்படறோம். பெரியவாளின் அனுக்ரஹம் பூரணமாக வேணும்,” என்று சொல்லி அந்த தம்பதிகள் வணங்கினர்.
பெரியவர் கண்ணை மூடிக் கொண்டு மவுனத்தில் ஆழ்ந்தார். “” பதினைஞ்சு நாள் கழிச்சு புறப்படு” என்று கண்டிப்பான தொனியில் சொன்னார். டாக்டர் ராமகிருஷ்ணனுக்கு ஒன்றும் புரியவில்லை. பயணத்தை தள்ளிப்போட இஷ்டமில்லை. பெரியவர் பேச்சை கேட்காமலும் இருக்கமுடியவில்லை. டிக்கட் கான்சலேஷன், அடுத்து ரிசர்வேசன் எப்படி செய்வது? என்று மனக்குழப்பமும் உண்டானது. கடைசியில் அமெரிக்கப்பயணத்தை ஒத்தி வைத்தார்.
மீனம்பாக்கத்தில் இருந்து புறப்பட்ட விமானம் மும்பையிலேயே தன் பயணத்தை முடித்துக் கொண்டு விட்டது. அதில் பயணம் செய்த நூறு பேரும் இறந்துவிட்டனர். இதனைக் கேள்விப்பட்ட டாக்டர் அல்லாடி ராமகிருஷ்ணனும், அவரது மனைவி லலிதாவும் தாங்கள் பெரியவரால் காப்பாற்றப் பட்டதை எண்ணி ஆனந்தக்கண்ணீர் பெருக்கினர். வரவிருந்த துன்பத்தில் இருந்துகாப்பாற்றிய காஞ்சிப்பெரியவரின் அருளாசியை வியந்து மகிழ்ந்தனர்.

Chennai resident Subramaniyan was an ardent devotee of Kanchi MahaPeriyava. He wouldn’t miss an opportunity to visit Him and take His Darshan. He went to the Mahagaon camp in February 1983 and took His Darshan. Then he made a request to the Swamigal
“I want to go to Pandaripuram and have Lord Pandurangan’s Darshan. But my leave is ending tomorrow. I definitely need to be in office on the day after tomorrow. I would be very happy if I get His Darshan tomorrow”, he said.
Periyava blessed him and gave him Prasadam.
With Periyava’s grace, he started for Pandaripuram confident in the belief that he would get Lord Panduranga’s Darshan. But he had a shock in store for him there. There was a huge crowd there on that day.
There was a very long line of people waiting for Darshan. Disappointed that he would not get Darshan, he decided to at least go around the temple once and started walking. As he passed the ‘GopuraVaasal’, he saw a very narrow entrance which was the ‘ThittiVaasal’. It was possible for just one person to enter via that entrance.
Just then the Panda (priest) opened that door and addressed Subramaniyan in Hindi, “If you want Vithoba Darshan, come with me”, and called him.
Surprised, Subramaniyan followed the priest. He found himself standing in front of Lord Panduranga in just 5 minutes. He was able to take the Darshan of Lord Panduranga and Rakhumai. He made over some money to the Panda and started from there. Subramaniyan did not feel that it was the temple priest who called him. He believed that Kanchi Periyavar had Himself enabled Lord Panduranga Darshan

Alladi Krishnaswamy Iyer’s son Dr Ramakrishnan and his wife Lalitha had come to the Kanchi Matham to take MahaPeriyava’s Darshan before starting for America.
“We are leaving on the 12th. We request for Periyava’s Anugraham”, and fell prostrate at Periyava’s feet.
Periyava closed His eyes and was in silence for some time.
“Start after 15 days”, He said in a stern voice.
Dr Ramakrishnan was confused. He did not want to postpone the travel. At the same time, there was no way he could not obey Periyava’s orders. How to cancel and re-book the tickets ? He was in a quandary. Eventually, he postponed his travel.
The plane which started from Meenambakkam ended its flight in Bombay itself. All 100 on board that flight died. Hearing this news, Dr Ramakrishnan and his wife Lalitha were in tears of joy since Periyava had saved their lives. They marveled at the compassion of MahaPeriyava who had saved them from impending disaster.
