A law can easily be enforced against cow slaughter. But if we don’t make proper arrangements to look after the cows which are no longer useful for milking and farming, then they would be made to suffer out of starving and being malnourished. With 2025 almost drawing to a close, the Naduvur Govt. Cattle Farm has been busy preparing the culling list to show the exit door for the cows that served the farm and mankind for several years. This livestock farm is located in Naduvur village, Tanjore distict, and is run by the TN govt. They breed cow, extract tonnes of milk, sell them and make money; in case of male rishabams extract semen as much as possible and when they are old mercilessly send them out in the name of auction. Where will these old age cows end up at the tail end of their lives apart from slaughter houses?
Through our contacts we came to know about this culling, spoke to them and tried to push the timeline as much possible but now has come the time where they have asked us to take the cows by Dec 4, 2025 else it will auctioned for slaughter.
The flyer and the farm notice below contains all the relevant details including contributions info. The total cost of these cows come to Rs. 3.95L plus another Rs. 1.5L for truck, rope, hay, transport, food, labour, toll, police, etc. On an average it comes to around Rs. 27k per cow/ USD $302.
If we get the required funds, we will travel to Nadvur cattle farm and rescue the cows. We will post updates directly from the farm on the date of rescue with date/time stamp (Dec 4) and also in this blog (mahaperiyavaa.blog) after the rescue. The rescued cows will be transported and kept in Dhyan Foundation Gosala, Coimbatore.
Let’s pray to Sri Periyava for the safe rescue and transportation of the old cows. With Cyclone Ditwah ready to unleash its fury we can only pray to Sri Periyava for the rescue to go smoothly.
