This Wednesday, 13th, July 2022 is Guru Purnima or Vyasa Purnima. Vyasa bhagavan, born as Sri Krishna Dvaipayana, contributed a lot to our Vaidhika dharma including organization the Veda into 4 parts and its shakas, writing Mahabharatha and 18 Maha puranas, systematically and logically arranging concepts dealt in the Upanishads in the form of sutras called Vedanta sutras or Brahma sutras, to name a very few. His Jayanthi is celebrated as Vyasa purnima or Guru Purnima. Sanyasis, irrespective of their sampradaya, start their chaturmasya vratham with Vyasa Pooja on this day. Vyasa pooja, however, is not restricted only for Sanyasis. Whoever follows Vaidhika dharma, can / have to worship Vyasacharya.
