உலகத்தில் பாவம் பண்ணாமல் இருக்கிறவன் யாராவது உண்டா என்றால் குழந்தை அல்லது பைத்தியக்காரன்தான். ஞானிகளின் உயர்ந்த நிலைக்கு உதாரணம் ‘பாலோன்மத்தவத்’ என்று சொல்லுவார்கள். பாலன் என்றால் குழந்தை. உன்மத்தன் என்றால் பைத்தியம். உன்மாதம் என்றால் தலைக்கு மேலே ஏறிப் போகிற பித்தம். உன்மாதத்தை உடையவன் உன்மத்தன். ஈசுவரனுக்கு ‘உன்மத்தசேகரன்’ என்று பெயர். உன்மத்தம் என்றால் ஊமத்தம் பூ. சம்ஸ்க்ருதத்தில் ஊமத்தைக்கு உன்மத்தம் என்று பெயர். ஊமத்தம் பூவை அவன் தரித்துக் கொண்டிருக்கிறான். அதில் சிவனுக்கு அதிகப் பிரியம். உன்மத்தசேகரன் என்பதற்கு இரண்டாவது அர்த்தம் பைத்தியத்துக்குள் தலைவன் என்பது.
