முதுமை, உடல் தளர்ச்சி, துணை இல்லாமல் வெளியே போக முடியாது. ஆட்டோ, டாக்ஸியில் போகலாமே என்றால், அதற்கெல்லாம் வசதியில்லை.
நெஞ்சு மட்டும் படபடவென்று அடித்துக் கொள்கிறது. அவன் வர்றதுக்குள்ளே, இவாளைப் பார்த்துடணும். ஒரே ஒரு தடவை வெறும் பகற்கனவு என்பது அவருக்கே புரிகிறது. ஆனால், நாள் ஆக, ஆக, தவிப்பும் வளர்ந்துகொண்டே போயிற்று.
வாசற்படியில், காலடிச் சத்தம் கேட்டாலே, அவன் தானோ? என்ற திகில் போகவேண்டியிருக்கிறதே? என்ற அச்சம் இல்லை; தரிசிக்காமல் போகிறோமே! என்ற ஏக்கம்.
ஒருநாள் வாயிற்புறத்தில் காலடிச் சத்தம்.
ஆமாம், காலடிச் சத்தம்.
உங்களை அழைச்சிண்டு காஞ்சிபுரம் வரும்படி பெரியவா உத்தரவு என்றார் வந்தவர்.
வயோதிகரின் ஆத்மா சிலிர்த்தது. நான் எனக்குள் தானே பேசிக் கொண்டேன்? அதெப்படி பெரியவாளுக்குக் கேட்டிருக்கும்?
நான் என்ன பண்டிதனா? அக்னிஹோத்ரியா? இல்லை, அமைச்சரா? அரசியல் தலைவரா? எப்போதோ ஒரு தேங்காயைச் சமர்ப்பித்து, நமஸ்காரம் செய்த நினைவு. நெஞ்சில் பதிந்த திருவுருவம், காலத்தால் மறைந்துவிடவில்லை.
மடத்துப் பணியாளர், என் தோளைப் புடிச்சிண்டு நடந்து வந்து கார்லே ஏறிக்கிறேளா?என்றார்.
கார்! விமானத்தையல்லவா எதிர்பார்த்துக் கொண்டிருந்தேன்!
இவர்கள் இருவரும் காஞ்சிபுரத்தைச் சென்றடைந்த சமயத்தில், பெரியவாள் அன்னை காமாக்ஷி கோயிலில் இருந்தார்கள்.
அம்பாளைத் தரிசனம் பண்ணிட்டுப் போகலாமா? என்றார் சிப்பந்தி.
முதல்லே, பெரியவா தரிசனம் அப்புறமா எல்லாம்…..
பெரியவாள் திருமுன்னிலையில் போய் நின்றார். பேச்சு வரவில்லை. கண்கள் பேசிக் கொண்டன. ஒரு வழியாகச் சமாளித்துக் கொண்டு, பெரியவாளுக்கு நமஸ்காரம் செய்தார்.
ஐந்து நிமிஷமாயிற்று. எழுந்திருக்கவேயில்லை. <Shankara>
பெரியவா தன்னுடைய ஒரு காஷாய வஸ்திரத்தைக் கொடுத்து, அந்தச் சரீரத்தின் மேல் போர்த்தச் சொன்னார்கள். மடத்துப் பணியாளர்களே இறுதிச் சடங்குகளைச் செய்யும்படி உத்தரவாயிற்று.
முதல்லே பெரியவா தரிசனம்; அப்புறமா, அப்புறமா அம்பாளைத் தரிசித்துக் கொள்ளலாம் என்று சொல்லத்தானே விரும்பினார். அவர் விருப்பம் நிறைவேறிவிட்டது.
அரைமணி கழித்து, அவர் விமானத்தில் பயணித்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார் அம்பாளை தரிசிக்க. இனி, எந்த ஒரு தாயின் கர்ப்பமும் அவருக்குக் கிருஹம் ஆகமுடியாது!
அவருக்கு இனி மண்வாசனை பிராப்தமில்லை. உம்மாச்சி தாத்தா அனுகிரஹம் !!!

He was old and infirm. He could not go out without support from someone. And he couldn’t afford an auto or taxi.
His heart was beating anxiously. Have to see Periyava before ‘he’ comes. He knew this was just a pipe dream but as days went by, his anxiety kept growing.
Footsteps at his doorstep made him think fearfully it is ‘him’. It was not a fear of death; rather he wanted to have one Darshan before he passed away.
One day he heard footsteps outside. Yes footsteps.
I have been instructed by Periyava to take you to Him, said the person who had come. The old man was thrilled. How does the Periyava know what I have been longing for ?
Am I a Pundit ? Or a Agnihotri ? A minister ? A political leader ? I had just offered a coconut to Him and did a Namaskaram, that too a very long time back. His image was imprinted in his mind.
The person from SriMatam said “Can you hold onto my shoulder and board the car ?”
Car ? I was actually expecting a ‘Vimanam’ !
By the time the car reached Kanchipuram, Periyava was at the Kamakshi temple.
The Sippanthi said, “Shall we take Darshan of Kamakshi before going to Periyava ?”
The old man said firmly, “First Periyava, everything else after that”. The old man went and stood in Periyava’s holy presence. No words came out. Eyes conversed. He somehow controlled his emotions and did a Namaskaram to Periyava.
5 minutes went by. He did not get up.
Periyava gave a Kashaya Vasthram and asked the old man’s body to be covered with that. He ordered that SriMatam Sippanthis should carry out the last rites of the old man.
The old man said he would see Periyava first, can take Ambal’s Darshanam after that. His desire was fulfilled.
Half an hour later, he was flying in a ‘Vimanam’ to take Ambal’s Darshanam. After this, he would not come into any mother’s womb.
He would not return to the earth again (attained Mukthi). Umachi Thatha’s Anugraham
