Shri Ravi Venkatraman is an engineer from BITS, pilani. He got attracted to Mahaperiyava from his childhood days itself. He had the good fortune of spending his college summer vacations with Mahaperiyava’s camp. He shares all those experience with us. He has also written a book ‘Sagunopasana(Pooja vidhanam)’ on Mahaperiyava.

I read through your comments taking my time today after recovering from the travel fatigue. Though I feel blessed, I do not think that I am a true devotee of His Holiness, when compared to the great souls who served His Holiness. The true devotees of our Pujya Mahaswami are people like Pradosham mama, his brothers Ghatam Vinayaram and Subash mama, and others like Ramadurai mama. I cannot fathom the scintillating service of Sri. Arakonam Balu mama towards His Holiness for offering vilvam by cycling 60 kms a day. Mettur Swamigal’s service and sacrifice is also extraordinary. and the list of true devotees go on…

Thank you for your nice wishes. We published 1000 copies of the book originally. Most of them were given at the mutt. The publisher does not have any copies. Please send your information to the email address I provided. I can ask my family to mail the copies I have in India. I have only 10 copies left in India.

நமது மனது தான்… மனுஷ மனது.. அனைத்தையும் உழப்பிக்கொள்ளும், என்றே தோன்றுகிறது..இருந்தாலும், “என்னோட கஷ்டத்துக்கு, நீ ஏதாவது பண்ணனுமா.. சரி, சுப்ரமண்ய புஜங்கம் சொல்லு.. என்று கனவில் பெரியவா வந்து சொல்லியிருப்பது”, எப்படி தோன்றுகிறது… இப்படி இருக்குமோ… அம்மா குழந்தைக்காக, ஓடி ஓடி எல்லாம் செய்கிறாள்… சற்று கால் வலிக்கிறது.. உட்கார்ந்து கொள்கிறாள்… குழந்தை வந்து.. அம்மா உனக்கு நான் கால் அமுக்கி விடட்டுமா…என்று கேட்கிறது.. அமுக்கியும் விடுகிறது.. அம்மாவுக்கு, குழந்தை அமுக்குவதெல்லாம் வலி போகுமா?.. இருந்தாலும், வாஞ்சையோடு, குழந்தையை மிக ஆசையாக பார்ப்பாள்.. இதை விளக்க வேண்டுமானால், ஒரு பக்கம் போதாது..

Thank you for sharing your experience. You are a bhaagyavaan for sure. Thank you for helping us picture Mahaperiyava in the rough terrains of Andhra, in the evening, in the natural setting. Though I may never experience the scene with him physically present, your description came the closest to such an experience. I live in the US too (went to Pilani as well) and I have a son who is 5 years old. I am, like you are, very concerned about how we could pass on this precious learning and experience in full or at least in part to him. The best solution, that dawned on me, is to move back to India lock stock and barrel. Moving back to India, taking care of one’s aged parents, and working towards the betterment of the punya theerthas (like you mentioned) can of course remedy the problem of continuing the lineage of the great saints within our own families.

I hope your prayers to Mahaperiyavaa will help us cross this American ocean by burning away the desire, for our entire families, to continue here, and with his mantra rebuild our breaking boats of Sastra and Aachara, and help us land in the lap of Bharata Mata, in whose service, we and our families can earn His true grace.
