It was another great blessing for my family and devotees in Chicagoland to have Gatam vidwan Sri Subash Chandran mama & his music team yesterday. Mama & team arrived home and spent few hours with us before they did a musical concert for public. I will write a separate post about the concert later.
Few years back, when mama visited Chicago, he stayed with us for 3-4 days and during that time, he and Sri Ganesh Kumar introduced Periyava bakthi to me. One of few things he taught was few pathigams that were usually chanted in Sri Pradosham mama’s house. One of them is “இத்தனை யாமாற்றை அறிந்திலேன்..” for Parameswaran in Tirukurukaavur. This pathigam is considered as a pathigam for miracles. There is a sthalapuranam for this temple on how such miracles happened. Sri Pradosham mama school of bakthi normally chants this pathigam. Last time, when they came home and chanted, I forgot to record it….This time, soon after they entered my house – didn’t even give much time for them to settle down – I took them all to the swami room (!) and immediately they started singing this pathigam….I am explaining this to preempt any comments from readers on “why is he wearing pant in front of Periyav etc”!!!! So don’t bother posting such comments…..I took a video using my phone camera – it is not perfect, lot of movements….Please bear with the video quality. Enjoy the pathigam. When I was traveling near Mayavaram/Kumbakonam recently, I saw a signboard for “Tirukurukavur”. I said “aha” but was rushing and couldn’t go to this great kshetram. There is always a next time!

ஒப்புடை ஒளிநீலம் ஓங்கிய மலர்ப்பொய்கை
அப்படி அழகாய அணிநடை மடஅன்னம்
மெய்ப்படு குருகாவூர் வெள்ளடை நீயன்றே. 7.29.4
வரும்பழி வாராமே தவிர்த்தென்னை ஆட்கொண்டாய்
சுரும்புடை மலர்க்கொன்றைச் சுண்ணவெண் ணீற்றானே
அரும்புடை மலர்ப்பொய்கை அல்லியும் மல்லிகையும்
விரும்பிய குருகாவூர் வெள்ளடை நீயன்றே. 7.29.5
பண்ணிடைத் தமிழொப்பாய் பழத்தினிற் சுவையொப்பாய்
கண்ணிடை மணியொப்பாய் கடுவிருட் சுடரொப்பாய்
மண்ணிடை அடியார்கள் மனத்திடர் வாராமே
விண்ணிடைக் குருகாவூர் வெள்ளடை நீயன்றே. 7.29.6
போந்தனை தரியாமே நமன்தமர் புகுந்தென்னை
நோந்தனை செய்தாலும் நுன்னல தறியேன்நான்
சாந்தனை வருமேலுந் தவிர்த்தென்னை ஆட்கொண்ட
வேந்தனே குருகாவூர் வெள்ளடை நீயன்றே. 7.29.7
மலக்கில்நின் அடியார்கள் மனத்திடை மால்தீர்ப்பாய்
சலச்சல மிடுக்குடைய தருமனார் தமர்என்னைக்
கலக்குவான் வந்தாலுங் கடுந்துயர் வாராமே
விலக்குவாய் குருகாவூர் வெள்ளடை நீயன்றே. 7.29.8
படுவிப்பாய் உனக்கேஆள் பலரையும் பணியாமே
தொடுவிப்பாய் துகிலொடுபொன் தோலுடுத் துழல்வானே
கெடுவிப்பாய் அல்லாதார் கேடிலாப் பொன்னடிக்கே
விடுவிப்பாய் குருகாவூர் வெள்ளடை நீயன்றே. 7.29.9
வளங்கனி பொழில்மல்கு வயல் அணிந் தழகாய
விளங்கொளி குருகாவூர் வெள்ளடை உறைவானை
இளங்கிளை ஆரூரன் வனப்பகையவள் அப்பன்
உளங்குளிர் தமிழ்மாலை பத்தர்கட் குரையாமே. 7.29.10
