திரு.சுந்தர்ராஜன் எனும் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா பக்தர் 1968-ம் வருஷம் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா ஆந்திரபிரதேசத்தில் யாத்திரை செய்து கொண்டிருந்தபோது மனதில் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளை தரிசிக்க வேண்டுமென்று மனத் தவிப்பில் இருந்தார். 1969 ஜனவரி 24-ல் தினமும் இரவில் தாங்க முடியாத தலைவலி இவரை வாட்டியது. சுமார் 10 மணி முதல் 11 மணி வரை தினமும் இரவில் இப்படி வலி வந்து சுந்தர்ராஜன் தவிப்பது வழக்கமாகி விட்டது. ஒரு வேளை மூளையில் புற்றுநோய் இருக்குமோ என்ற சந்தேகம் ஏற்படும் வகையில் இந்த தலைவலியின் வேகம் இருந்தது. ஒரு மாத காலம் அலுவலகத்தில் விடுப்பு எடுத்துக் கொண்டு இவர் டில்லியிலிருந்து ஐதராபாத்துக்கு பிப்ரவரி 15-ஆம் நாள் வந்து சேர்ந்தார்.
விஜயவாடாவிலிருந்து இருபது கி.மீ.தூரத்தில் இருந்த தெலாபொரலு என்ற கிராமத்தில் ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளை தரிசித்தார். மாலை சுமார் நாலு மணிக்கு ஸ்ரீபெரியவா விஸ்ராந்தியாக படுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தபோது இவர் ஸ்ரீபெரியவா முன்பாக நின்றார்.
‘உனக்கு பிரஹசரணம்னா தெரியுமா?’ என்று ஸ்ரீபெரியவா கேட்டார். சம்பந்தமில்லாத கேள்வியாக இது இவருக்குத் தோன்றவில்லை. ஏனென்றால் இவர் வடமாள் பிரிவைச் சார்ந்தவராயிருந்தாலும் இவரது மனைவி பிரஹசரணம் பிரிவைச் சார்ந்தவள். அதை சுட்டுக்காட்டவே ஸ்ரீபெரியவா இப்படிக் கேட்பதாக இவருக்குப் புரிந்தது.
ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் தான் இப்படி மணந்து கொண்டதாகத் தெரிவித்தார்.
பின் இவர் தன்னுடைய தலைவலி உபாதை பற்றிக் கூறி அதற்காகவே பிரத்யேகமாக ஆபீஸில் விடுப்பு எடுத்து ஸ்ரீபெரியவாளிடம் வந்திருப்பதாகவும் அதற்காக பிரபு தயவு செய்து உபாயம் கூறவேண்டுமென்றும் வேண்டி வணங்கினார்.
‘உனக்கு ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதம் தெரியுமோ?’ என்று ஸ்ரீபெரியவா கேட்க இவர் வெட்கத்துடன் ஸம்ஸ்க்ருதம் படிக்காததைக் கூறினார்.
‘நீ தினமும் நாராயணீயத்திலே ஒரு தசாகம் படிச்சுண்டு வா’ என்று அனுக்ரஹித்து அனுப்பினார்.
இவர் உத்தரவு வாங்கிக் கொண்டு தன் காரில் ஏறி உட்கார்ந்ததும் ஒரு பெண்மணி ஓடிவந்தாள்.
‘பெரியவா என்னை உங்க காரிலே விஜயவாடா வரை போகச் சொன்னார்’ என்று சொல்ல இவரும் ஏற்றிக் கொண்டு புறப்பட்டார்.
விஜயவாடா வந்ததும் அந்தப் பெண்மணி தான் தங்கியிருக்கும் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து இரவு உணவு உட்கொண்டுதான் போக வேண்டுமென கேட்டுக் கொண்டார். ஆனால் இவருக்கோ ஒரே பயம். அங்கிருந்து ஐதராபாத்துக்கு விரைவாகச் சென்றாலும் இரவு பத்து மணியாகிவிடும் – இரவு பத்து மணிக்கு தினமும் வரும் தலைவலி வந்துவிடுமே என்பதுதான் அந்தப் பயம்.
‘ரொம்ப நேரமாகாது. சாப்பிட்டுவிட்டுப் போகலாம்’ என்று அந்த மாது அக்ரஹாரத்துக்கு அழைத்துச் சென்று ஒவ்வொருத்தர் வீட்டிலும் ஒவ்வொரு பலகாரமாக வாங்கிவந்து சுவையாகப் பரிமாறினாள்.
பதினைந்து நிமிடத்தில் சாப்பிட்டு இவர் புறப்பட்டு ஐதராபாத்துக்கு இரவு 10 மணிக்கு பயத்துடன் போய் சேர்ந்து தலைவலியை எதிர்பார்த்தார்.
ஆனால் தலைவலி எங்கு போனதோ? வருமோ வருமோ என்று பயந்து சென்ற மாதங்களில் தவித்த அந்தத் தலைவலி அன்று வரவேயில்லை. ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளெனும் வைதீஸ்வரரிடம் முறையிட்டதற்கே இப்படி ஒரு பலனா என்று சுந்தரராஜனுக்கு ஒரே வியப்பு.
சரி ஏதோ இன்று மட்டும் வராமல் விட்டு விட்டு நாளை வரலாமென்ற பயமும் சந்தேகமும் இல்லாமலில்லை. ஆனால் அன்றென்ன என்றென்றும் அதன்பின் தினமும் இரவு 10 முதல் ஒரு மணி நேரம் வரை உயிரை எடுத்த தலைவலி எப்படி மாயமானதோ அது மருந்தீஸ்வரரான ஸ்ரீஸ்ரீஸ்ரீ மஹாபெரியவாளுக்கு மட்டுமே தெரிந்த மகிமை.

In the year 1968 when Shri Periyavaa was on a yatra in Andhra Pradesh a bhakt by the name of Thiru Sundararajan (TS) was in mental turmoil with the desire to have a darshan of Shri Periyavaa. Commencing on January 24, 1969 TS started having splitting headaches every night and became habituated to suffering in this way every night from approximatedly 10 pm to 11 pm. The intensity of the headache lead one to suspect whether it was not being caused by cancer. He took leave of absence for one month from his office and came from Delhi to Hyderabad on February 15.
In the village of Telaprolu some 20 km from Vijayawada he had a darshan of Shri Periyavaa. At about 4 o’clock in the evening when Shri Periyavaa was in repose TS stood before him.
“Do you know what is Brahacharanam ?” asked Shri Periyavaa. TS did not consider this to be a question without any context. This was because although TS belonged to the Vadama sect his wife belonged to the Brahacharnam sect. TS understood that it was to point this out that Shri Periyavaa had asked this question. TS confirmed that it was the manner in which he had got married.
TS then explained the problem of his headache and the fact that he had specifically taken leave of absence from his office in order to come and meet Shri Priyavaa and prayed that Shri Periyavaa should grace him with a solution.
“Do you know Samskritam ?” asked Shri Periyavaa to which TS, red in the face, confessed that he had not learnt the language.
“You read 10 lines everyday from the Narayaneeyam”, said Shri Periyavaa and with his blessings sent TS on his way.
After taking his leave TS sat in his car when a lady came running up.
“Periyavaa has asked me to go up to Vijayawada in your car” said the lady and TS accomodated her and they set out.
On arrival in Vijayawada the lady insisted that TS should partake of meals at the home where she was staying. But he was dead scared. The reason was that even if he made haste in driving to Hyderabad it would be 10 pm by the time he arrived there and he was scared that his affliction, the daily ache in the head, would have started by then.
Saying it is very late and TS should leave only after finishing his meals the lady went into the agraharam, brought one dish from each home and served TS with relish.
Finishing his meals within 15 minutes he set off for Hyderabad and arrived there at 10 pm with great trepidation in the expectation that the headache would set in as usual.
But where did the headache go ? The anticipated headache which he used to await with fear everyday during the past months did not put in its appearance that day. TS was overcome with wonder as to whether this was the result of his entreaties made to Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyavaa and Shri Vaideeshwarar.
He was not without fear and suspicion that even if he had escaped the headache that day perhaps it would return the next day. But what to speak of that day the total disappearance of the headache on all subsequent days after causing untold pain every night at 10 pm was an act of grace in the full knowledge of that master of spiritual medicine Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyavaa.
