Where did the headache go? :)))

Here is a magnificent translation by our blog reader Shri M.S. Chandramouli!
==================================================================

In the year 1968 when Shri Periyavaa was on a yatra in Andhra Pradesh a bhakt by the name of Thiru Sundararajan (TS) was in mental turmoil with the desire to have a darshan of Shri Periyavaa. Commencing on January 24, 1969 TS started having splitting headaches every night and became habituated to suffering in this way every night from approximatedly 10 pm to 11 pm. The intensity of the headache lead one to suspect whether it was not being caused by cancer. He took leave of absence for one month from his office and came from Delhi to Hyderabad on February 15.

In the village of Telaprolu some 20 km from Vijayawada he had a darshan of Shri Periyavaa. At about 4 o’clock in the evening when Shri Periyavaa was in repose TS stood before him.

“Do you know what is Brahacharanam ?” asked Shri Periyavaa. TS did not consider this to be a question without any context. This was because although TS belonged to the Vadama sect his wife belonged to the Brahacharnam sect. TS understood that it was to point this out that Shri Periyavaa had asked this question. TS confirmed that it was the manner in which he had got married.

TS then explained the problem of his headache and the fact that he had specifically taken leave of absence from his office in order to come and meet Shri Priyavaa and prayed that Shri Periyavaa should grace him with a solution.

“Do you know Samskritam ?” asked Shri Periyavaa to which TS, red in the face, confessed that he had not learnt the language.

“You read 10 lines everyday from the Narayaneeyam”, said Shri Periyavaa and with his blessings sent TS on his way.

After taking his leave TS sat in his car when a lady came running up.

“Periyavaa has asked me to go up to Vijayawada in your car” said the lady and TS accomodated her and they set out.

On arrival in Vijayawada the lady insisted that TS should partake of meals at the home where she was staying. But he was dead scared. The reason was that even if he made haste in driving to Hyderabad it would be 10 pm by the time he arrived there and he was scared that his affliction, the daily ache in the head, would have started by then.

Saying it is very late and TS should leave only after finishing his meals the lady went into the agraharam, brought one dish from each home and served TS with relish.

Finishing his meals within 15 minutes he set off for Hyderabad and arrived there at 10 pm with great trepidation in the expectation that the headache would set in as usual.

But where did the headache go ? The anticipated headache which he used to await with fear everyday during the past months did not put in its appearance that day. TS was overcome with wonder as to whether this was the result of his entreaties made to Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyavaa and Shri Vaideeshwarar.

He was not without fear and suspicion that even if he had escaped the headache that day perhaps it would return the next day. But what to speak of that day the total disappearance of the headache on all subsequent days after causing untold pain every night at 10 pm was an act of grace in the full knowledge of that master of spiritual medicine Shri Shri Shri Mahaperiyavaa.

  1. Mahaperiyava saranam I was affected by cancer in 2009 had surgery and follow up treatment. All my family members recited this slokam “admin parasmin” . I am completely recovered. This slokam is for all ailments.

  2. Am sharing personal experience. During August 2013, suddenly i got a skin rashes, patches, in feet, hands and body. (I never had anything like before). I prayed to Sri Periyava for cure and didn’t go to doctor and i appied vibudhi. This went on for some days. Then i thought of Narayaneeyam slogam for curing of ailments (earlier i bought two volumes of Sri Narayaneeyam, in Tamil, by Sengaligpuram Brimhasri Anantharama Dikshidhar and kept in my pooja room with a desire to read it sometime) But i felt how can i chant this mantra when i already prayed to Sri Periyava for cure, The very next day morning when i visited this website in aug / sep 2013, first i saw a posting by Mr. Mahesh about Sri Periyava advice on Narayaneeyam slogam. I was in tears, how Sri Periyava immediately answered my feelings and i could not believe it and surrendered to Sri Periyava. From that moment i started chanting this mantra all the times. Then i got courage to visti doctor to see what is the ailment and got several medicines for 2 months which i took only for few days and i didn’t continue but praying to Sri Periyava and leave it to Sri Periyava, believe it within 3 weeks am back to normal, no traces of any of them. As rightly said by Panchanathan Suresh, this is for both mental and physical ailment.

Sri Namboodhri prayed to Sri Guruvayurappan for all ailments, see below the meaning given by Sri Sengaligpuram Brimhasri Anantharama Dikshidhar

(Sorry for few wrong letters in line 3 & 6 above)

When we surrendered to Sri Periyava, its is more than any mantra or Slogam.

    Sri Periyava Saranam

  3. Thank you suresh. In an earlier post here I read that periyava prescribed this mantra to someone with cancer and that he got cured. Somewhere else it was said that the mantra could be chanted for any ailment, since mantras are powerful I wanted to be sure if I could use it properly. Guess leave the responsibility to Him as always:)

  4. periva daan ista daivam ,,, periva dhan kula daivam VAIDEESWARANUM.

  5. Reading Indrakshi Kavacham also cures all diseases.

  6. I had asked this question in an earlier thread but didn’t get any reply. Maybe it was the wrong thread. Does anyone know if the mantra from narayaneeyam can be chanted for ailments like diabetes? Or is it only for cancer? Please do reply, appreciate it. Thank you.

    • Dear Guru, I have not read anything where He has recommended a particular prayer specifically for diabetes. But reciting Narayaneeyam and Soundarya Lahari with devotion helps ward off many ailments, both mental and physical!

      • Magnificent translation Sir!

      • Thank you very much. I am blessed today. As I am reading the translation , I am able visualize the complete incident. I also read about one incident, where Sri Kanchi ParamaCharya asked one devotee who is suffering from epilepsy to take panchagavya after performing vedic recital. The devotee followed Sri Kanchi ParamaCharya instructions and was completely cured from epilepsy.

I sometimes wonder how many lives punya phalam or good merits of previous life one should have to have darshan of such a great saint such as Sri Kanchi ParamaCharya.

Sri Kanchi ParamaCharya , Sri Ramana Mahrshi , Sri ChandraShekara Bharathi of Sringeri mutt, to name few are all moving form of god, south India has witnessed pretty much in the same period of time.

  13. Maha Periyava is Vaidheeswaran! Bhava Roga Vaidhyanathap PerumaaLee! Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara!

  14. Hara Hara Sankara, Jaya Jaya Sankara.

  15. yes periava is a bigggggggggg doctor!!!!! you think of Him and all your troubles will go. try if you want.
