Yesterday, I attended a satsang where Sri Kamakshi Swamigal, peetathipathi of Sri Swarna Kameshwari Peetam, Nanganallur, Chennai, was giving a discourse on a topic -“Acharam”. He was explaining how our puja and other anushtanams alone aren’t enough and why we should pay equal attention to acharam also. He shared some pramanams from veda, upanishad, bagawad Gita etc on this topic. He also talked about how Mahaperiyava spent His entire life insisting us all to follow acharam on top of whatever we do. Sri Kamakshi Swamigal has a background of a vaideeka and associated with our Sri Matam & all three Periyavas for quite some time.
During that discourse, he very nicely said that today the whole universe is trying to catch Mahaperiyava’s feet – many still feel that they didn’t take advantage of the opportunity when Periyava was in sthula sareeram and many have lifetime disappointment of not having His darshan ever. Swamigal nicely concluded that more than we seeing Him, it is sufficient and very important that He sees us. The word “see” has a deeper meaning – not just the physical action of seeing during His lifetime. It goes beyond that – even today.
How will He see us? Doing things that are of important to Him…By doing our achara, anushtanams as per our sampradayams, doing sat-karyams as per our dharma, being socially and religiously participative. He talked about doing anatha-pretha-samskaram.
He also talked about Brahmasri Vedapuri mama and his bakthi towards Periyava and how offering our namaskaram to mama itself is a great blessing from Mahaperiyava.
Let us pray Him to bless us all vairagyam to have undeterred faith and bakthi and maintain the acharams.
I saw someone recorded the discourse – I will try to collect them and share if possible.
Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara!
