தலைமுறை தலைமுறையாக வந்த அநுபவ Weight ஆசாரத்துக்குத்தான் இருக்கிறது. Tradition (மரபு) என்று ஒன்றை மதித்து அதன்படிச் செய்கிறபோதுதான் நம் மனஸை, இந்திரியங்களை, போக்குகளை, கார்யங்களை ஒரு நெறியில் சீராகக் கட்டுப்படுத்திக் கொண்டு வருகிற discipline-ம் ஏற்படுகிறது. இதுதான் மோக்ஷ த்வாரத்துக்கு முதல் வாசலான ‘சித்த சுத்தி’ என்பதைத் திறந்து விடுவது. நன்றாக ஸ்திரப்பட்டுவிட்ட established tradition-ஐ [நன்கு நிலைப்பட்ட மரபை] மதிக்காமல், அதை நம்பாமல், அதில் ஏன் அது இப்படி, இது இப்படி என்று கேள்வி கேட்டுக் கொண்டிருந்தால், கேள்வி கேட்டுக் கொண்டேயிருப்பதோடு முடிந்து போகிறதே தவிர, பதிலாக, இப்போது இருக்கிற ஆசாரங்களை எடுத்து விட்டதற்குப் பதிலாக ‘வெயிட்’ உள்ள ‘டிஸிப்ளின்’ எதையும் நிலைநாட்ட முடியவில்லை. காந்தி மாதிரி தன்னளவில் சுத்தராக இருந்து கொண்டு, ஈஸ்வர பக்தியும் பண்ணிக் கொண்டு, பழைய இந்திய வழக்கப்படியே எளிய வாழ்க்கை, தேஹ உழைப்பு இவற்றை மேற்கொண்டு இருந்தவர்களே பழைய ஆசாரங்களில் சிலவற்றை எடுத்துவிட்டு, பழசில் மீதி சில ஒழுக்கக் கட்டுப்பாடுகளையும், புதிதாகத் தாங்களே பண்ணின சீர்த்திருத்தக் கோட்பாடுகளையும் கலந்து தங்கள் ஆஸ்ரமங்களில் ஏற்பாடு பண்ணி, கண்குத்திப் பாம்பாக நேராகத் தாங்களே நிர்வாஹத்தைக் கவனித்து வரும் போதுகூட, ஒழுங்குத் தப்பான கார்யங்கள் நடந்து. அதற்காகத் தாங்களே பஹிரங்க கண்டனம் பண்ணிப் பட்டினி கிடக்கும்படியாக ஆகிறது. – ஜகத்குரு ஸ்ரீ சந்திரசேகரேந்திர ஸரஸ்வதி ஸ்வாமிகளின் அருள்மொழிகள்
Only tradition has the weight of generations behind it. By following the traditions certain discipline is instilled by bringing our senses, practices, and actions to a certain order. This opens the first gateway to the liberation of the soul or moksha by purifying our minds. But if we continue to question the well-established traditions the process ends with the questions. There is no strong discipline to replace the traditions we choose to abandon. Mahatma Gandhi adhered to the truth personally and was a firm believer in the Divine Supreme. He followed a traditional way of life soaked in simplicity and physical labor. A reformist, he gave up certain traditional forms of discipline and created a new code of conduct, an amalgamation of some traditional rules of conduct and reformist discipline of his own. He directly and strictly supervised the management of his own Ashrams.
