When he had completed this pallavi “Devesi danda needhi…” HE asked appa to stop there!
“Prathiban Mukhyagaa Kaantha thiti Mandala Poojitha..”
HE asked appa, “What is today?”
“Pournami”, replied Appa.
“You had a grievance that you could not come to Kanchi matam during Navarathri, but this song implies that Navarathri continues until today which is Pournami day!”, said the Sarveshwaran.
Appa said, “Pournami is only today and from tomorrow the moon will not be full. But for us you are the ETERNAL Poornachandran!”
Sri Mahaperiyava once asked Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal’s poorvashrama brother Ramakrishan Mama to learn Lalitha Sahasranamam at my father’s place by staying there for a mandalam! He came with another Shri Kumar, they used to come daily to learn.
Ramakrishnan Mama asked Periyava , “where should I complete this Lalitha Sahasranamam?”
Before singing the complete Lalitha Sahasranamam they both wanted to sing it before Periyava and went to Him. They started to sing along with my father in a chorus.
He told them to stop, possibly wanting to know how they sing alone and told my father, “you sing pallavi and let them sing anu pallavi, and take turns!”
When they were singing “kala kaavyaa kala..” HE gestured someone to distribute a vessel full of Saathukudi (sweet lime) juice to us!
He asked someone to put Andal Malai (nela malai) to my Appa. Appa was overcome with emotions and started to shed tears.
He told him, “Take it easy, control your emotions. Sing further!”
What a blessing!
