We have heard hundreds of interviews of vaideekas/brahmins who have interacted with Mahaperiyava and narrating their experiences. To me, personally, more than those, someone who is a commoner – particularly not a brahmin, who had no idea of who sankaracharyas are, who thought that Matam is an brahmin institution or even worse who talks bad about Sri Matam (because of their ignorance) and becoming an ardent devotee, is a compelling story. I don’t know anything about Rajavel – it seems that he is running a TV channel – I haven’t watched that either. I ran into this interview randomly in the internet and it was quite an interesting episode on how Periyava pulled him into His folds.
We always turn to god mostly when we face some hardships- true for Rajavel too but what happens next is clearly Mahaperiyava’s anugraham to him. Happy that I ran into this interview.

While we see these kinds of devotees, we also have to deal with our own matam followers taking social media to spread all sorts of wrong information- be it they are NRI non local. It is truly a shame – I will write a separate post on this soon.
