Stop financial support for US projects from India

(Looked like a rare photo and hence sharing – Thanks to Sri Halasya Sundaram Iyer. I also vaguely remember sharing  this in the past here – not sure)

In the past few trips, I have been hearing that there has been some activities going on in Chennai where folks are seeking financial support for projects in US. Seriously?!!!

Couple of years back, there was an appeal made to several Ganapadigals/vaideekas in an Atirudram/maharudram event – I knew that. Recently, during my trip, I met someone who narrated an incident quite similar to that but in a small scale and it seems that it luckily stopped.

This is one of the most dumbest things I have ever heard. 1 USD is Rs 62+. How on the earth someone can support a US project from India unless someone is so affordable and wealthy! Besides, is it fair? Isn’t it our responsibility for those who are outside of India to support for good causes in India taking advantage of the exchange rates? Why have we started doing bizarre things in the name of Mahaperiyava?

If anyone approaches you stop entertaining those folks. When I say this, I am not against noble initiatives and also I am not against devotees offering to help for those events. Folks in India can do support in so many ways but not financially – that is my point. If you still want to contribute financially, just give Rs 1 – that’s fine. For Periyava the devotee who gives 1 crore and 1 rupee are the same – He is beyond everything.

Without help from folks in India many of the events can’t happen here. For instance, for conducting an events, we need several things from India (Vastram, vessels, puja items, homa dravyams etc) and we always need some volunteers who could help procure them but none should pay from India. That is my position.

Hara Hara Sankara Jaya Jaya Sankara!
