Met my high school friend after 30 years. We studied in Trichy at ER High School. He used to come from Tiruvanaikovil. Great guy. We met in a restaurant near my office in Chennai and were talking for 30 Mts or so on various topics and no mention of the word Periyava. For some reason he reached out to his phone and I saw this photo as wallpaper and was very pleasantly surprised. I asked him if he is a devotee of Mahaperiyava. His answer was “not a great devotee”. I think what he meant was that he is not doing great level of puja etc but has great respect for him. Then he mentioned that this photo was drawn by his father-in-law, who was very close to Sri Matam and Periyava also. In fact on his request, Periyava stood in this pose and helped him to get started on his drawing. It is quite unbelievable that this is a drawing – looks like a photo to me! What a great artist he was!
My friend’s grandfather was a mudradhikari at the Matam in Trichy. Periyava had apparently been to my friends place and they got such a great opportunity to do padha puja for Periyava at their residence. It seems that there is a photo of that in Trichy. I asked him to get it for me…..Hopefully soon!
